Meggin's perfect weekend at Venice Carnival
Mystery, enigma and seduction... in addition to their beauty, masks has played an important role over time. In 1094 the Doge Vitale Falier talks about it for the first time. These were used to grant, in total anonymity, and to the whole population, without any social class distinction, a period of fun and celebrations with music, dancing and sumptuous parties in Venetian palaces, parties presided over by the famous Giacomo Casanova.

The equestrian monument, SS Giovanni e Paolo and Scuola Grande
The equestrian monument of Bartolomeo Colleoni by Andrea del Verrocchio, master of Leonardo da Vinci, is considered the second monument on horseback after that of Donatello. Bartolomeo Colleoni was a leader who fought with his army of mercenaries and who was appointed general captain of the Serenissima Republic. For the horse he was inspired by the horses of Saint Mark's Basilica; the monument represents one of the masterpieces of the Renaissance and the most beautiful bronze work in the city. The statue is located in Campo SS Giovanni e Paolo, one of the widest fields in Venice and a very important field because solemn parties and ceremonies were often organized and also because the remains of the Doges and high representatives of the Republic passed through this field before receiving the last farewell in the adjacent Basilica of SS Giovanni e Paolo.
The Scuola Grande di San Marco, like all "Scuole Grandi", brought together the patricians and wealthy bourgeoisies who, being unable to access to the political power, found in the school's internal positions a prestigious landing place. The schools were therefore centers of power, lay brotherhoods made up of great patrons and art lovers.

Palazzo Ducale
Palazzo Ducale is an extremely interesting and unique site to see at least once in a lifetime. It is undoubtedly one of the most famous and iconic buildings in Venice, a masterpiece of Gothic art and architecture that brings the traveler into a truly precious slice of life, history, culture and curiosity to help him unraveling the halo of mystery that surrounds the palace. Among the many curiosities we have that of the two red columns (the ninth and tenth) of the loggia.
Under the arch formed by them, the Doge attended the ceremonies and the performances that happened in the square, and the capital executions of ordinary people that took place between the columns of San Marco and San Todaro.
