Family Day on our tours is always a highlight. On our October tour Beautiful Nonna Maria made the Sicilian sweet Buccellati, sfingi & my favourite dish eggplant caponata. Cousin Claudio made Sicilian Salsiccia on the BBQ and there was lots of Aperol Spritz being poured. The little ones were there too and our guests loved mingling with the locals.

Today we were discussing what is that dish that reminds you of Sunday lunch with the family. For me it’s definitely eggplant parmigiana. I’ve seen so many different versions of this dish but this is my mums recipe and my cousin Carmel in Sicily also makes it the same and it’s everyone’s favourite on our tours.

Layers of crumbed and fried eggplant and rich Napoletana sauce and pecorino cheese. Buonissimo!!!

My husband and I had the great pleasure of participating in Carmel’s Sicilian Food tour this September. What a fantastic time we had! We feel blessed to have had such a positive experience, and are happy to recommend Carmel's tours as a wonderful way to be introduced to the warm and friendly people and fabulous sights, food and flavors of beautiful Sicily.

Scoglitti is a great home base, with the view of the beautiful Mediterranean at your doorstep, and the friendly people, great food and Carmel's enthusiasm for her hometown, where it seems everyone she meets is a cousin. Carmel makes you feel like a member of the family. She is warm, funny and clearly is an ambassador for her Sicilian home and the beauty and bounty that Sicily has to offer. We have gained a new cousin, and will surely keep in touch with her in the future. Experiencing our last night at Carmel's cousin's home was such a meaningful way to end our Sicilian experience. The cooking demonstration from Nonna Maria, the beautiful food that was laid out for us and the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere was simply unforgettable.

We had lovely experiences....visiting beautiful and picturesque towns with stunning architecture....hands on participation in making Sicilian specialties....watching demonstrations of the making of chocolate, cheese, olive oil and of course, tasting the results!! The meals were so beautiful, the food was amazing and it seemed never ending! We were so fortunate to enjoy the tour with a great group of fellow travelers, and we would gladly do it all over again if we had the opportunity. I certainly encourage anyone considering Carmel's tour to grab the opportunity to share in this marvelous experience. You will not regret it!!!

My good friend Chef Nino’s GF tiramisu, great idea for those looking for a special dessert for their GF guests this Christmas.

This morning I was asked by the mayor of the City Of Canada Bay Council, Mayor Michael Megna to join him along with Fausto Biviano President of Associazione Isole Eolie to be interviewed by Franco & Cono from Sicily Tv - Siciliani nel mondo. The lovely Lisa from Comites NSW was also with us.

Franco travels the world telling the story of Sicilians who have migrated to different countries. It was such a pleasure to meet them and of course I knew their relatives from Capo D’Orlando. Such a small world.

If you are in Sydney pop into the Norton St festa today. A vast variety of food options and stores but of course my first stop is always Dom Panino to see the family for sfingi & panini, Lucios pizza, Tony’s Gnocchi stand, Sydsicily for cannoli, Casa Di Miele & The Italian Flame for candles.

Beautiful Anna Simon was on stage with Dom making panini too.
