Totally refurbished and relaunched for 2023, Maison des Landes combines the facilities of a modern hotel with those of a community meeting place. The hotel’s 26 rooms offer holiday accommodation to people with disabilities and their carers, while The Community Hub welcomes Jersey’s elderly for events, lunches and social gatherings. We have been catering for guests with all manner of disabilities s

ince the 1960s. We endeavour to provide everything guests may require, from electric beds to ceiling hoists, as well as wheel-in wet rooms and a large, readily accessible hydrotherapy pool. More than that, our staff, who are all very caring, will ensure you are served good food, enjoy wonderful excursions and experience a matchless party atmosphere. With guests returning time and again, making new friends and meeting up with old familiar faces, our Hotel offers a stimulating experience like no other. Maison des Landes is a charitable Trust set up by the Lions Club of Jersey to provide holidays in Jersey specifically for people with a disability along with their family, friends and carers.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

So for the Maison des Landes team, it’s time to close our doors for the season, reflect on a wonderful year, and prepare to reopen on February 3rd 2025.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us this year – all our lovely guests, our team and those who have donated time and money to make 2024 a spectacular success.

There are too many high points to mention, but our wonderful charity cyclists who pedalled 500km across Vietnam and Cambodia last month deserve special recognition. Here are a few of our favourite pics from 2024.

Ferry firm DFDS has announced the vessels that will be providing the ferry links between Jersey, Poole, Portsmouth and St Malo next year.

Two high-speed craft – The Levante Jet and The Tarifa Jet – will be used for sailings to Poole and St Malo once service begins in 2025. The Portsmouth to Jersey route will be serviced by the Stena Vinga, a 125-metre vessel with capacity for 400 people and 200 cars.

DFDS has said that their 2025 timetables will be revealed tomorrow.

Confirmed for 2025 – ferries to Jersey from Poole and Portsmouth!

DFDS – the Danish company that will be providing ferry links to Jersey next year – have confirmed that they’ll be offering sailings from Poole and Portsmouth from March 2025. The firm are currently finalising their 2025 timetable which will be published shortly. Get ready to book your 2025 ferry to Jersey!

Following yesterday’s long-awaited announcement from Jersey’s Government, we are delighted that a ferry operator has been chosen for 2025.

Starting in March next year, Danish firm DFDS will provide the essential links from the UK to Jersey. The Government of Jersey said next year's timetable would be published by the end of next week.

DFDS is a very experienced operator and has been named the World's Leading Ferry Operator for more than 10 consecutive years at the World Travel Awards.

The firm proposes to offer faster ferries from the UK to Jersey, a greater frequency of ferries between the UK and France and two dedicated high-speed ferries for the Summer.

They made it!

After eight days of cycling, covering 464km, from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Angkor Wat in Cambodia, our intrepid team of 22 charity cyclists from Jersey have achieved their goal.

The final leg was a 40km tour of the vast Angkor Wat temples, including the beautiful Bayon temple with its huge carved stone faces, the partially overgrown Ta Prohm temple which featured in the Tomb Raider movie, and of course Angkor Wat itself with its towering staircases and ornately carved towers.

So The Angkor Wat Cycle Challenge comes to an end. It’s been a very special experience, but the fund raising isn’t done yet. If you’d like to celebrate the team’s achievement, the fundraising page is still open. If you would like to make a donation you can do so by clicking the link below. Our charity cyclists are making fantastic progress, having cycled over 320km of the 500km distance to Angkor Wat!

After crossing the border from Vietnam into Cambodia, the team have encountered extreme heat and a variety of road surfaces – from good quality tarmac roads to sandy tracks. The scenery is changing too as the next leg of the journey sees our cyclists navigate Tonlé Sap – the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. From there it’s on to the city of Siem Reap – the gateway to the magical temples of Angkor Wat.

The team are extremely grateful for the donations that have been made during their journey. All money raised will go to providing breaks for Jersey caregivers at Maison des Landes. If you would like to make a donation you can do so by clicking the link below.

The Jersey Walking Group joined us at Maison des Landes for their Christmas lunch, and it was truly a pleasure to host them. The group enjoyed a traditional roast turkey lunch with all the trimmings, followed by a delightful dessert of steamed Christmas puddding drizzled with a rich brandy and vanilla sauce - perfect festive fare for the occasion!

We are incredibly grateful to the wonderful Judith Painter from the Jersey Walking Group, whose unwavering support and energy continue to inspire us all. Judith, it’s always a joy to welcome you and your walkers. Thank you for making the day so special!

The Road to Angkor Wat Cycle Challenge update!

Having pedalled over 200km through Vietnam, our charity cyclists are approaching the Cambodian border which they hope to cross today. It feels a long way from Jersey!

It’s been an eventful journey so far, through paddy fields, over bridges and across rivers, in tropical heat and torrential downpours. And it’s all for a fantastic cause. Every penny raised by the team will go towards providing breaks for Jersey caregivers at Maison des Landes.

And they’re off! The training is over and the rubber is quite literally hitting the road. Our team of 22 intrepid cyclists from Jersey have arrived in Vietnam and their 500km charity cycle has begun!

Having arrived in Ho Chi Minh City and picked up their bikes, the team have set off from the Mekong Delta for an initial 43km ride along quiet country tracks and through farmland, with local children shouting encouragement on the way. Everybody has enjoyed the first day despite the thirty degree heat.

Two of Maison des Landes Trustees are on the team and every penny raised will go to providing breaks for Jersey caregivers.

It’s Foodie Friday! Take a look at these delicious dishes cooked up by our team of chefs for the Angkor Wat Challenge celebratory meal. The Asian-themed menu was enjoyed by the team members, their partners and supporters shortly before their departure to Vietnam this week to cycle 500k, in aid of Jersey Caregivers.

The cycle challenge starts this Sunday 17th November in Ho Chi Minh City and sees the team follow the path of the Mekong River, over the border into Cambodia and onto the legendary temples of Angkor Wat.
