When, " the Meteorological Service of Jamaica was forecasting that today (May 30, 2023) would be a wet Tuesday in Jamaica as a trough across the western Caribbean was producing a large area of unstable weather. Expect an increase in cloudiness with associated showers and thunderstorm across the island."
The Christies' of lot, 420 Hibiscus Drive, Torado Heights, St. James, Jamaica, W.I., whom were still in the course of celebrating their younger sister's high school graduation which took place in Florida, U.S.A., had no inkling that extreme torrential May rainfall like never before experienced, would flood out their home on May 30, 2023. Investigations into the flooding incident revealed that the gully which channels the heavy flow of rainwater was blocked with debris, ranging from logs, tractor and truck tyres, rims, mud, boulders, amongst other rubbles. Causing the gully to overflow the banks on to the roadway, wreaking havoc in the neighbourhood. Compounded by an outdated drainage culvert which is decades old and desperately in need of being upgraded to a modern day engineered concrete drainage system.
