Dear National Works Agency, Jamaica Ministry of Tourism, Andrew Holness, Juliet Holness, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Tpdco Jamaica, Jamaica Defence Force! I am asking you to please clear this land slide in Greenwich. It's been couple weeks (!) now since it is impassable. Yes, the ones who have a 4WD and take the risk might be able to pass. But it is so high now, that we don't risk the lives of our tourists. With a none 4WD it is not possible. Two weeks ago we came up from Kingston on a tour with 5 tourists. We sadly had to turn back. Because there are no public advisory or closure signs at all! Which is totally CARELESS! A next tour driver came from Section side, had to turn back. The disappointment of the guests was big!
There should be signs in Buff Bay already and in Papine that the road is closed! But you find nothing! I posted this same issue right 1 year ago. When the road was also blocked. This land slide happened 3 years ago! And still you do nothing to fix it proper. Why you always wait until somebody dies? Why not fix it before? The tourist season is coming up and we do off the beaten track round trips to support the people who don't live in the resort areas and show tourists the real Jamaica. And even if that's not in you interest cause All inclusive resorts are the main focus unfortunately, the people who live in the area face the risk every single day until one day somebody will slide down and die. Is it that what you want? The soldiers are right there. But nobody cares about the issue. Jamaica's infrastructure is a big mess right now. Montego Bay to Negril is in a disastrous state, same as Montego Bay to Mackfield going to the south coast. These roads are used by tourists every day. So before building more and more hotels, fix the infrastructure!!

On our "Meet the people" tour yesterday, our guests Annett and Ralph had the opportunity to experience the country and its people up close and personal! On a stroll through Falmouth they took part in the morning hustle and bustle of people going to work and to school and learned a lot about the colonial history. Then we visited Wayne and Doris in the Rasta Garden in Runaway Bay. Wayne showed us plants which he grows himself. From herbs and vegetables to Ribena, from which he makes the delicious home-made Ribena wine. After we enjoyed the tasty Ital Soup, there was a taste of the wine and freshly prepared juices. We could hardly tear ourselves away from the charming vibes. But then we went on to the Browns Towns market. Fruits, vegetables, spices, clothes and household goods can be purchased here from the busy vendors. Afterwards we visited Sarah and her Labrador dogs in the Geddes Great House. After the warm welcome with homemade orangeade and fried breadfruit, she showed us her property and the garden. On the way back we stopped for a piece of puddn at the famous puddn man in Priory. This typical Jamaican delicacy rounded off this culinary day.

Today is World Coconut Day! The coconut came to Jamaica from Asia. This very useful and healthy fruit is an indispensable part of the Jamaican cuisine. Whether in rice and peas, gizzada or as a coconut sauce for shrimps, it gives every dish a special touch. Known as jelly coconut, the water is very refreshing and hydrating, especially in the hot weather. But the fiber is also used as a material for potting soil, doormats and insulation material. Whether brooms, cricket bats or brushes, the coconut palm is an all-rounder and a significant part of the everyday life.

Unbelievable that 10 days already gone 😯! On the last day of our 10-day round trip in Jamaica we started with a delicious breakfast at Smurfs Coffee Shop from Auntie Dawn. Then we visited the beautiful YS Falls waterfalls. Here we were able to splash, jump and swing one last time! Waterfun in the sun. After that we went to the hotel in Negril where the round trip finished.

We spent the ninth day of our 10-day Jamaica round trip on the water. Today is Independence Day in Jamaica and to mark the occasion, the annual boat parade took place in Treasure Beach.

Captain Adrian then drove us to the Black River. Here we searched for crocodiles. These friendly reptiles live here in the wild. Unfortunately, only one of them showed up today.
Then we went to the Pelican Bar, the wonder of the south coast. The Pelican Bar survived Hurricane Beryl undamaged and everyone is asking and delighted how.

Day 8 of our 10-day round trip in Jamaica began with a delicious fruit breakfast! Mango, sweetsop, naseberry, star apple, pineapple, banana and sugar cane gave us energy for the upcoming long drive to Treasure Beach.
But before that we visited the Bob Marley Museum, the former home of the reggae legend.

On the way we stopped at the Lover's Leap lookout point. Luckily no hurricane can destroy the view... but it did to the restaurant😔. Beryl caused a lot of destruction here.

At Frenchman's Beach in Treasure Beach it was time for family fun in the waves. All around the place some cleanup and construction work is in full swing. Many thanks to the Lashings Hotel, which provided our guests with a great room (+free upgrade) after our actual accommodation was unfortunately still under construction.

We spent the 7th day of our 10-day round trip around Jamaica in Kingston, the bustling capital.

Today, Sunday, it was quiet, which is ideal for a city tour in terms of traffic. The National Stadium was our first destination for the sports-loving family. Unfortunately, we were denied a look inside the stadium because preparations for the Independence Day Gala are in full swing there at the moment.

But the Usain Bolt statue and Toni's victory in the family race made up for it. Not to forget the ice cream in Devon House, said to be the fourth best ice cream in the world!

In the pirate city of Port Royal, we visited Fort Charles, where we were taken back to the time of Henry Morgan & Co.
Afterwards, we made a quick stop at Wickie Wackie Beach in Bull Bay.

On the way to the accommodation, Toni's wish was to try to get a glimpse of Usain Bolt's house through the fence, but unfortunately he wasn't at home. Maybe he was just watching the men's 100m final live in Paris.
The day ended with extensive fun in the pool.

On the 6th day of our 10-day round trip of Jamaica today, we left the coast and went to the Blue Mountains, Jamaica's highest mountains. With perfect weather conditions, pure sun all day long, we made lots of picture stops and refreshed ourselves in the hidden Cascade Falls. We stopped for the famous Blue Mountain coffee in Section where we got it straight from the fire. At the Old Tavern Coffee Estate we watched Punsi picking the coffee beans. She sorts every single one here by hand! We passed through New Castle where the soldiers get their training. After this we watched the women's 100m Olympic final live at Cafe Blue in Irish Town while having a little snack. Unfortunately, not too successful for Jamaica. But it is the taking part that counts.. We spent the rest of the day in our accommodation's own waterfall and river pool right in the mountains!

Half-time on our 10-day round trip around Jamaica, day 5 today began with rain. It started in the night and continued until midday. It's a good thing our accommodation has table tennis! 😁 So it didn't get boring and when the rain eased up, we made our way to the Blue Lagoon. Since boat tours have been banned, sea turtles have also started populating the lagoon again. Toni taught the lifeguards the jumping stunts while Dad crossed the lagoon in search of turtles. We then spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach at Frenchman's Cove. For individual tours tailored to personal interests, needs, wishes and budget:

Day 4 of our 10-day round trip around the island of Jamaica was once again action-packed! Today is Emancipation Day, a holiday in Jamaica, which means the locals are pouring out to party! At the beautiful Reach Falls, little Toni made the Jamaican audience cheer! All the three of them jumped bravely through the Rabbit Hole. On the deserted Long Bay Beach, he enjoyed himself in the high waves, while his parents treated themselves with a cool Red Stripe in Toya's Bar. But then they were also captivated by the magic of the waves. On the way to Boston Bay, we stopped for the best jerk in the region. Yes, Boston Jerk is good, but too crowded on a holiday. Rite Price Cook Shop is better! Insider tip if you don't want it too spicy! Afterwards, we ended the day among the locals on Boston Beach, who were celebrating the holiday with their families and friends.

Today, on day 3 of our 10-day round trip through Jamaica we visited Sunvalley Plantation in the morning. In this private garden you can gaze at the island's biodiversity of tropical fruits, plants and spices. At the end we were rewarded with samples of fresh juices and fruits. The journey then continued to Port Antonio. On a walk through the town we experienced the everyday life, the vivid market bustle and visited the marina. The day ended with splashing and swimming at Winnifred Beach.

On day 2 of our 10-day round trip, the water fun continued today. In the morning we visited Dunn's River Falls first. Shortly after opening, you are almost alone there. We didn't miss this opportunity. Markus, Daniela and Toni bravely climbed up the waterfall from the very bottom to the finish. Then the journey continued to the Blue Hole. Here Toni got his money's worth. He jumped countless times with an acrobatic feat from a height of 5 meters. He also jumped into the water Tarzan-style on a rope.
Our accommodations on this round trip is a mixture of guesthouses and 3-star hotels, adapted to budget and personal preferences. A pool was a must for water lover Toni.

It's summer holiday time and Markus, Daniela and son Toni are spending their vacation in Jamaica! We thoroughly planned this individual round trip in advance so that it is child-friendly and tailored to the needs of water lover Toni. We want to leave nothing to be desired and so water fun is our top priority every day! Today, on day 1 of our 10-day trip, we started action-packed with tubing on the Rio Bueno. Fun for the whole family! We continued to the Green Grotto caves, where we were shown Jamaica's underworld. After a patty to gain back strength, we visited Lloyd and Doris in the Rasta Garden to indulge in their homemade juices and coconut cake and to admire the garden. In the evening the family brought the water in the bay of Glistening Waters to glow.

After Jamaica was hit and badly damaged by Hurricane Beryl on Wednesday, July 3rd, we just got back electricity and internet today. We would like to thank you very much for all your sympathy, kind words and concern about how we are doing! Most of the messages are coming in just now and it's overwhelming. We are fine, just got some damages to our property in Treasure Beach. This now needs to be fixed. The island is recovering and continues to welcome visitors, which are needed now more than ever! We are looking forward to our round trip guests Myrna and Robert next week, who will not let this stop them, no matter in what condition and under which circumstances they find hotels, attractions and roads. We love that and look forward to seeing you!

This weekend the 16th Maroon Conference is taking place in Charles Town. The Windward Maroons celebrate the signing of the Peace Treaty of 1739 on June 23rd. But this time the Tainos are there too! The Arawak Indians were considered extinct in Jamaica. But apparently they aren't! The group of around 3,000 people around Chief Kasike are fighting for their recognition as indigenous people in Jamaica. We were able to attend the summer solstice ceremony.

As you know, hiking is one of our favorite activities and so it was a pleasure for us once again to create a next individual one week roundtrip. The Blue Mountains played a big part in this. We got a refreshing dip at Fish Dunn Falls before visiting the Old Tavern Coffee Estate. Here at the coffee plantation, our guests learned a lot about the cultivation of the famous coffee. The next day we hiked to the Rasta Camp School of Vision, where we were invited to dance, drum and chant. The next day we went to Holywell National Park to warm up for the upcoming Blue Mountain Peak hike. Afterwards we warmed ourselves up visiting the coffee farmers at the fire and enjoying freshly brewed coffee. The following night we headed up to the highest point in Jamaica, Blue Mountain Peak. The night hike requires fitness and a strong will. The short sunrise rewarded us for our effort. Back on the coast we treated ourselves at the Little Ochie Seafood Restaurant. In the evening there was a bonfire on the beach in Treasure Beach with life music. The next day we visited the Maroons in Accompong. We hiked to the Peace Cave with our guide Briggy, the place where the peace treaty was signed with the British. Unfortunately we were caught in the rain, but the timing was good. We stayed dry and had white rum. The boat tour to Pelican Bar and the visit to the YS Falls were also on the program. On the last day we hiked to Rasta Fire in the hills of Westmoreland, who cooked Ital food for us on the wood fire in his home far away from civilization.
