I am constantly surrounded by fresh food, everwhere I look from the moment I wake up and look outside I see food producing plants, neighbors and friends come by with produce or exchange goods. Food is life, it gives people joy. That also means we mostly eat seasonal which is an immense change in lifestyle. With this incredible quality and quantity of available ingredients just from our street and farms alone I don't want anything to go bad am an constantly trying to preserve as much as possible and am always experimenting new ways to make one ingredient into as many different dishes as possible.
I only freestyle cook, I am somehow incapable of following recipes or making the same dish look and taste exactly alike. Every fruit, veg, nut, leaf, seed etc. has its own characteristics, form, taste, sweetness. One coconut will never taste exactly like the next, two guavas from the same tree will have different consistencies and won't neccessarily share the same color and sweetness. Every piece of produce is an individual and that's how we have to treat our ingredients while preparing them.

---Farm to Table lunch in the jungle---
Most of the ingredients om the plate come from our and our community's farms (in () below), some of them which I had harvested in the morning fresh.
● coconut rice (coconut, turmeric)
● cucumber salad (cucumber, sorrel bird pepper, lime, basil)
● callalloo summer rolls in tahini sauce (lemon, ginger, bird pepper)
Paired with fresh juices (guava, sorrel, june plum etc...) - das in the shot of rum for the vibes

Nature is true power
This year Jamaica was hit with extreme weather situations back to back affecting everyone: month long droughts leading to bush fires followed by month long heavy rains and storms leading to landslides.
Every morning you wake up and breath remember that plants give you oxygen and everytime you eat fresh produce remember that nature fed you - so let's stop interfering with Mama Earth and let her do her thing so we can continue to live.
This is the view out my bedroom window and I cannot be more grateful to wake up every morning being reminded of nature's impact.

In the past few weeks has been more quiet, so we have been focusing on the farm and on fresh produce. So we started to make and freeze a ton of fresh juices á $300 - Jelly ($200), Watermelon, Beetroot-Ginger, Guava combinations, Sorrel, june plum variations, Watermelon-beetroot... we do deliveries to Porty, $1200min. order.
The fruit comes either from our farm directly or from our farmers' coop in Treasure Beach. ..

Congratulations to this beautiful , she became a mommy last month! It is her first year bearing fruits 🎉🎊
For us farmers it is one of the most exciting things - to watch a tree you take care for for years reach maturity and bear fruits for the first time. We celebrate it and give thanks for more life (and food 🥑🥑), as plants are living organisms just as us humans.
By the way, who said money doesn't grow on trees?!

For coffee lovers:

We get the Blue Mountain Coffee directly off of the James Dennis organic Farm in Section, 4000ft above sea level.

I fell in love with Section and its coffee on my very first trip to Jamaica and have bought coffee exclusively there. We make occasional trips up there just to buy coffee for our Café , it is absolutely worth it. So worth it that we want to share it with you.

They are a bit more pricy ($3000/lb), organic, hand-picked, hand-roasted, hand-grinded. Coffee is a labor of love.

Sometimes I sit with the farmers and learn how to roast the beans correctly, giving it a steer myself when they run out of their prepared bags. The smell and taste is unbelievable.

Let me know if anyone is interested, once I get enough orders we will make a coffee run.

Bless up everyone

We are trying to extend our "Bags a Freshness" produce deliveries to Kingston, beginning next Friday.
The bags are "one size", including ~15lb of fresh produce, a mix of ground food, veggies and fruits - whatever is available that week.
We cooperate with several farmers for the most variety and to support each other in these times.
The cost is $2500 per bag incl delivery for this test run in areas of Mona, Liguanea, Barbican, new Kingston, Constant Spring road.
