Niseko’s New Hirafu Gondola -
Niseko, located in the Japanese northern prefecture of Hokkaido and renowned for its top quality powder snow, will introduce a new Hirafu gondola on November 30, 2024. Replacing the historic Ace Quad Lift #2 Center 4, the new gondola boasts spacious 10-person cabins, transporting 2,800 people per hour to the top, notably increasing capacity compared to its predecessor. In terms of speed, it runs at 6 meters per second, 1.5 times faster than the old lift. Other upgrades include Wi-Fi connectivity, heated synthetic leather seats, and indoor ski and snowboard racks. Additionally, two feature cabins, with a skeleton underfoot design, offer 360° views of the surrounding mountains, providing riders with a unique and scenic experience.

• Konpira Crater Ruins Walking Trail
This trail showcases the area’s dramatic geological features shaped by the volcanic eruption in 2000. Here, you’ll witness not only the impressive formations left by the eruption but also the incredible regrowth of vegetation in what was once a harsh landscape.

• Nishiyama Crater Walking Trail
After completing the Konpira Crater trail, you’ll transition onto the Nishiyama Crater Walking Trail. This section guides you through serene forested areas and offers breathtaking viewpoints. The trail passes through the remnants of the eruption that extended across National Route 230 and the aligned railroad ties. You’ll have the opportunity to see ponds created in the middle of the highway, elevated asphalt, and heavy machinery that was left behind, showcasing the power of nature in an inhabited area

The trails around Lake Toya provide an enriching experience filled with stunning views and profound geological history. Get ready to explore with us, witness the beauty of nature, and learn about the powerful forces that shaped this captivating landscape!
