【Seasonal Joyful Train🚃, Yuri Kogen Railway】 is a local railway that runs through the foot of Mt. Chokai in Akita😄.
As you can see decorated in-train photo, we’ll soon celebrate the early spring tradition, Hinamatsuri (Ohinakko) in Japan. This festival, known as the ‘peach festival’, celebrates the health and happiness of young girls with vibrant peach blossom decorations. You’ll love the warm atmosphere!

【😸🙌Inukko Festival in Yuzawa City❄】 is a folk event that started decorating house doorways with dog statues made of rice flour 400 years ago. Nowadays, the main venue is lined with snow statues and snow halls that are illuminated as the sun goes down - creating breathtaking scenery!

As inukko (dog) is in the festival name, it’s also known as a dog-themed festival lately, the festival has been known as a snow festival that dog fans can enjoy. At the venue, an ‘Inukko (dog) Shrine’ is installed and you can pray with your dog and pray for your dog's longevity and health.

【The "Kamakura" Snow Festival】 in Yokote City is a traditional winter event with a history spanning about 450 years. During the festival, local children warmly welcome visitors, serving Amazake (a sweet drink made from rice-malt) in Kamakura igloos, where the god of water is enshrined. Locals make offerings inside the igloos and pray for the safety of families and a bountiful harvest.😊🫶 It’s a tourist-friendly event that you can truly enjoy, don’t forget to keep yourself warm when you come!

【The Giant Tug of War Festival in Kariwano 】 has a history of over 500 years. Surprisingly, general participants and tourists are welcome to join in the festival! Thousands of people take part in pulling ropes about 200 meters (218 yd) long and weighing about 20 tons. It’s an exciting experience! 【Namahage Sedo Festival in Oga City】 Namahage Sedo Festival is held at Shinzan-shrine in February in Oga, Akita. It is one of the representative winter festivals in the Tohoku Region and is a great opportunity for tourists to learn about Namahage attractions. When the festival reaches the climax, Namahage are descending from the mountain and parade through the crowd. There will be no doubt being overwhelmed by its powerful figure. *Reservation is required.
