TOP 10 FACTS ABOUT MOUNT FUJI

1. MT FUJI IS ACTUALLY A STRATOVOLCANO!

Mt. Fuji has a very distinctive cone shape, which is very unusual for a volcano.

3. THERE IS ONLY A SMALL WINDOW TO TREK MT. FUJI
If you have opted for the ACTION post event tour and are off up Mt. Fuji, you have hit the jackpot! The climbing season is VERY SHORT; it starts at the beginning of July until the last week in August!

Geographically, Mt. Fuji is the tallest mountain in Japan and stands at 3,776 metres (12,380 feet).

5. A MONK WAS THE FIRST TO CLIMB MT. FUJI
The first known ascent of Mt. Fuji was in 663 by a monk. The Mt. was commonly climbed my men. However, women were not allowed to climb until the 19th century! The first woman to ascent was Lady F***y Parkes in 1867.

6. MT. FUJI HAS A MILITARY BACKGROUND
The volcano is also known for being home of the warrior culture in Japan – the Samurais used the area for training. More recently, military camps from both Japan and the USAhave operated from Mt. Fuji.

7. MT. FUJI IS STILL ACTIVE!
Mt Fuji is indeed still active. Although, the last time it erupted was in 1707, over 300 years ago!

8. CLIMBING MT. FUJI COULD BE EASIER THANK YOU THINK!
It would take the average person between 4 and 8 hours to trek the summit – piece of cake!

9. DONATIONS ARE WELCOME!
Whilst you can trek the mount for free, the Shizuoka & Yamanashi government started accepting donations of 1,000 Yen in 2013, to fund the area for conservation.

Studio Ghibli Museum closes due to coronavirus fears

Sudden temporary closure has taken everyone by surprise.

With 770 cases of coronavirus recorded in Japan as of midday on Sunday, including 634 from the Diamond Princess cruise ship docked in Yokohama, fears that the number of infected will continue to grow has prompted the cancellation of large-scale events and community gatherings around the country.

Now the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo’s Mitaka is taking precautions against the spread of the flu-like virus by announcing that it will be closing for a temporary period from 25 February to 17 March.

As one of the city’s most popular tourist spots, the Ghibli Museum welcomes over a thousand local and international visitors each day, making it a high-risk location for the spread of the coronavirus, which has been officially named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization.

As Japanese officials are now unable to identify the route of COVID-19 infections in the country, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has announced that the next three weeks are being positioned as an important period for preventing the spread of the virus in Japan.

Get your Insta on with pop-up bar’s sakura pool and sakura-flavored sake【Photos】

Earlier this year, weather forecasts predicted March 19 as the date locals in Tokyo will see the first cherry blossom blooms. However, for those who like to get their flower-viewing party on earlier, sakura-themed pop-up Sakura Chill Bar is making a come back this year with a new location near the heart of Shibuya and a new medley of snacks for bar-goers to enjoy.

The theme for this year’s Sakura Chill Bar focuses on the concept of edible flowers.
Patrons can purchase a set including the sake sampler and all sakura-themed morsels for 3,000 yen (US$30). It should be noted that for this year’s pop-up, those under the age of 20 (the legal drinking age in Japan) will unfortunately not be allowed access into the bar.

The bullet train is awesome, fast and so comfortable but as we all know it is not cheap. Individual tickets can cost hundreds of dollars. Yes, train travel is the best way to see the country, so in order to reduce your train costs, get a Japan Rail (JR) pass. The pass is indispensable for travel in Japan.
These passes cost 28,300 JPY for 7 days, 45,100 JPY for 14 days, and 57,700 JPY for 21 days. All pass times are for consecutive travel. Even if you just get the seven-day pass, it’s the same price as a round-trip train ticket from Osaka to Tokyo (14,250 JPY each way!). Moreover, these JR trains also serve local city areas and so can be used intra-city
Though the pass can be up to 20% cheaper to buy online before you arrive, you can now purchase a Japan Rail Pass in Japan

🚇𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐎

Most of the city metro tickets cost 100–200 JPY for a single journey. (The price varies by distance and may often be higher.) Fares were usually around 220 JPY to travel across Tokyo but less for shorter distances. In most major cities, you can buy a day pass, which gives you unlimited travel for 24 hours for around 800 JPY.

🚌𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐒

Buses are a less expensive alternative to the bullet train system in Japan, but they take more time. For example, the two-hour bullet train ride from Tokyo to Osaka becomes a ten-hour bus ride. The price for that seat is 4,500 JPY, but at some point, you need to think about how much your time is worth. Sometimes saving some 10,000 JPY was not worth the extra seven hours of travel, if you have such limited time during your visit. There are also bus passes available that offer unlimited travel and begin at 10,000 JPY for three non-consecutive days of travel.

✈️𝐅𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒

Flying has become better option these days. There are many budget carriers now serving Japan, and a flight search on sites like Momondo or Skyscanner will reveal them. In general, their prices are on par with bullet train tickets. ANA also offers a special last-minute $100 fares via – guess what - a hidden page on their website. It’s only available to foreigners and can sometimes be cheaper than the flights you find on Skyscanner, especially for longer routes around the country.

Now you can save up Transportation fee when traveling japan with "WELCOME SUICA" AND "PASMO PASSPORT" TRANSPORT CARDS! Available from September 1st 2019 in Airports and Major railway stations throughout Tokyo.

🌸( follow our page for TIPS TO TRAVEL JAPAN ON THE CHEAP )🌸

WELCOME SUICA
Like an ordinary Suica card, the Welcome Suica can be used as a means of payment for subway and bus, but also in some shops, konbini and vending machines. This saves you from having to carry a lot of cash on you.

The main difference, apart from the adorable design, is that you aren't required to pay the 500 yen deposit fee for the IC card itself. There is, however, no refund of the remaining balance possible, so you have to be careful when putting money on it, and only add credit that you're sure you will use.

The card is only valid for 28 days.

Purchase price (charge included): 1,000 yen, 2,000 yen, 3,000 yen, 4,000 yen, 5,000 yen or 10,000 yen (between 9 and 90 USD).

Where to buy the Welcome Suica card?
You can buy it at JR EAST Travel Service Centers, from Tokyo airports and major train stations, as well as at Narita Airport. And soon, at Japan Experience!

PASMO PASSPORT
The new Pasmo card aimed at tourists, called the Pasmo Passport, is very similar to the Welcome Suica. The way it works is identical.

Where to buy the Pasmo Passport? You can buy it at Narita Airport or Haneda Airport. And soon, at Japan Experience

Have you ever heard about Hinamatsuri, also called Doll's Day or Girls' Day, a special day in Japan?
You ’ll be surprised after hearing the truth behinds this special day.

At the end of February and the first days of March every year, all Japanese families with daughters put out the traditional “hinaningyo“, to celebrate the little girl’s day and to make sure they are set up to be happily married sometime in the future. The saying goes that if you leave the dolls out too long (past the third of March) your daughter risks getting married late as well. In the town in Inatori (in the city of Higashiizu) on the Izu peninsula west of Tokyo, in Shizuoka Prefecture, for the last few hundred years at least, the local mothers have taken the tradition one step further, by making the Hinanotsurushi Kazari, or Hina Doll hanging Decorations”. It is said that the crafting of these dolls represent the love of the mother towards the daughter. These dolls can take almost any shape imaginable as long as it is something cute and cuddly that will help the daughter in her future marriage and are hand made by the mother by odd and ends, scraps of cloth and paper or anything else that they had at hand. They are then strung up and hung around the house as decorations.

Secluded sauna in Hokkaido lets you enjoy steamy sits and ice-water dips in one isolated location

We’ve seen the ice hotels of Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost prefecture, before. But for those looking for a little more warmth in their cool vacations, the Moving Inn’s Tokachi Sauna & Avanto might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Tokachi is a part of southern Hokkaido, where temperatures can get as low as -4 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees Celsius) in the winter.

Pricing for the sauna is 68,000 yen (US$620) on weekdays and 98,000 yen on weekends for a group of one to five people. Groups are limited to one day, and the sauna is only around until March when the river thaws, so if you’re interested, make your plans soon!

Have you ever wondered why are there so so ... so many deer in Nara Park?
Here is the answer that not many people know👇🌸

Nara Park covers a broad area, and in fact a portion of it is made of by the grounds of Kasuga Taisha Shrine. The deity enshrined therein is Takemi Kajichi no Mikoto, said to have ridden to Nara upon a sacred deer from Kashima Shrine (also written with a character for "deer") in Ibaraki Prefecture. Because of this legend, deer were thought of as sacred animals--the helpers of gods--and have been carefully protected for many years. Even today, Nara's deer are carefully protected as "natural monuments.
