It was the first time we had guests from south Africa.

We had a WASHI paper making workshop and toured the facility.
For lunch
We had a great time there, meeting locals.
They are very happy to meet foreigners.

In the afternoon, we made MOCHI from KOZO paper mulberry. kOZO is from KUROTANI WASHI.

We also had a chance to meet the mayor of Ayabe at KUROTANI too!
We appreciated that he took a time to explain about Ayabe to them.

【tea workshop in Ayabe】
Ayabe is known as a good tea grown place.
You can learn about Japanese tea from a tea farmer.

First of all, walk around the plantation, working for tea leaves like cutting the top of the tea leaves.

Secondly, taste different teas which they grow.

Finally, you can try a tea tasting game.
Get a capsule and inside there are several different teas. And you can guess which tea and where it comes from, like SENCHA from Shizuoka, or GYOKURO from Ayabe.

We had an English tour in Ayabe
Yesterday, I guided 2 people from Canada.
WASHI paper making and touring around the facility.
And for lunch, we had a delicious gluten free lunch .it is not their normal menu, but they made it special for us.

In the afternoon, we had MOCHI pounding workshop. This MOCHI contains KOZO leaf.KOZO is used for paper making.
Very unique experience.

【お香つくり体験】
昨日は岩王寺の、ハギ祭り。あやべ温泉の新作うどんに舌鼓。
そのあとは、興味のあったお香つくり体験。
3種類の色、5.6種類の香りからそれぞれ一つ選んで、混ぜて伸ばして、好きな形に切り取ったり、練り合わせる。30分ほどでできて、
あとは乾燥させるのみ。面白い体験コンテンツでした。

Yesterday, we went to one of the temples in Ayabe. They had an Autumn event.
Main purpose of visiting is to join in the workshop of making Japanese incense.

You can choose one of 3 colour, and also pick one of flavour.then mix in the bowl.
When it is became solid from the powder, you can roll it. At the end, you can shape it something, or put it like pyramid.

少し前ですが、抹茶と和紙ツアー。
この日は、京都からのブラジル人ユウジ@thaiyuji さん、カナダのデールさん、それに@satoyamaghcouture の台湾からの留学生のミオさん、そして我が家の6歳児の混合ツアー。いろんな言語でわいわい楽しい日でした。みんなきれいに和紙作れました！

We had Matcha and WASHI tour the other day.
On this date, there are 2 different guests from Kyoto. Mr Yuji from Brazil and Ms Dale from Canada. And Ms Mio from
Finally there is 6 years old son.

We accidentally joined in the same tour, but such a fun talking with you guys.

【New workshop on the progress】

Today we visited who is going to have silkworms and the workshop with it.

Today I just had a brainstorming session for the workshop.

It seems to have lots to do with the silkworm.

Feeding, reeling the silk,making tea from mulberry, or even silkworm dropping...and more

The atmosphere is already special in hidden villa.
I am sure that it is mindfulness experience just sitting in KOMINKA.

Hopefully in autumn, we can have monitoring tour or the workshop with them.

New workshop !
Recently HANGETSUAN
created new SENBEI making workshop.
Before there were 2 different taste of SENBEI paste and bake.
This time there are plain SENBEI paste and after baking, you can add different season on top which are all made in Ayabe.

【Fun Farm Project】
先週末はプロジェクトのもち米の田植え。
そし今年度から行っているポタジェガーデンつくり。田植え会では、雨であまりできませんでしたが、地域でお困りの竹をきり、獣害対策の柵にしていきます。

We are having annual agriculture workshop.
At last weekend,we had MOCHI rice planting.
Meantime, we are making potage garden.
There are lots of abandoned bamboo in our region which is not good for the forest and house nearby.
So we cut them to use them for the natural fence against wild animals.

【Fun Farm プロジェクト】の準備
この2日の間体験イベントに向けて、
ポタジェガーデンつくり

と水源の里鳥垣で体験準備しました。

まず、近所のお困りの竹を切り出す。そして、農地として使わせていただくところの竹柵作り。
まずは扉から。
次に4月の体験で作ってもらったボックスに、種から育てた固有種の苗たち植えるため、土をいれる。
地植えもするので、畝おこし。

久々に体つかいました。明日はもち米の方の田植え体験とポタジェガーデンの体験です。

【Japanese Green tea workshop in Ayabe】
Progress in making workshop with the tea farmer.
First of all, visit their tea plantation, and experience of covering over the tea leaf.

After that, we had many different tea tasting.
1.GYOKURO (high quality tea leaf) requires unique tea cup.
2. Matcha (simplified Matcha making)
3. HOJICHA(roasted tea. Using HOROKU over the heater, then taste)

We had a workshop making wooden cup from local Cypress and cherry(Sakura).

We gave a silent toast to the chef SAKE brewer who passed away a few days ago.

This workshop couldn't be created without him.
May his soul rest in peace.

【田舎暮らしを楽しむ人に出会う旅
　　　　　　　～舞鶴・福知山編～】
先週末は移住体験現地ツアーで、舞鶴&福知山をめぐりました。
初日は西舞鶴を髙田くんに案内してもらいました。
駅前に現在作っているコミュニティスペースを見せてもらい、そのまま商店街をまち歩き。若の湯〜Flat+〜宰嘉庵3棟を見てまわる。

ランチは地元の魚を食べられるサカナテラス。予想以上の豪華ランチに舌鼓。

そして午後は福知山の大江町へ。棚田の集落毛原で、長年活動する櫻井さんと、移住者の山村さんにお話を聴き、棚田散策へ。

夜は農家民宿薪鍋さんにて、上林鶏の鍋を共同調理。おコメはおくどさんで炊きました。
