Kyushu is far from just a destination - it’s a journey through some of Japan’s most unforgettable local flavours. 🍱🍜🍓
From Fukuoka’s rich ‘tonkotsu’ ramen & spicy ‘mentaiko’ to Miyazaki’s crispy ‘chicken nanban’ and sweet mango, each prefecture has its own story to tell through food. Oita serves up golden ‘toriten’ (tempura-fried chicken) and comforting ‘dango-jiru’ soup, while Kumamoto offers bolder dishes like horse sashimi and tender ‘akaushi’ beef. 🐎🔥
Saga and Nagasaki, on the other hand, are known for their unique ‘fusion flavours’, such as ‘Sicilian rice’, ‘Turkish rice’, and sweet ‘castella’ cake - a reminder of Kyushu’s trading past. In the far south, Kagoshima impresses with its melt-in-the-mouth black pork, handmade ‘satsuma-age’, and even chicken sashimi for the more adventurous traveller.
Every bowl, plate and bite is a taste of local pride, tradition and craftsmanship. If you’re a true foodie, Kyushu belongs on your list!
