If you want to learn more about one of the most well-known Japanese ceramic art styles, you can't miss the Saga Prefectural Kyushu Ceramic Museum🍶

Its main goal is to collect, preserve, and exhibit historically and artistically important materials related to ceramics from Hizen and other parts of Kyushu. They aim to preserve their cultural heritage and educate those interested in this art form.

You can learn about Kakiemon, a porcelain style form the 17th Century characterized by enamel decorations. Originally produced in Arita town, its techniques have been passed down through 15 generations. Also part of their collection are examples of Nabeshima ware, made between the 17th and 19th centuries, which was offered to the Sh**un.

In the museum, don't miss the Aritayaki Karakuri Music Box Clock with a huge dial that opens every 30 minutes, or the 25 Meissen porcelain bells.

Did you know that in Japan, there is a sacred dance devoted to the Shinto Gods?😲

Miyazaki Prefecture is believed to be where the Gods descended to Japan, so it is the perfect place to watch a sacred Kagura dance. These performances tell of the legends and myths of the Japanese Shinto Gods such as Amaterasu.

The Yokagura Festival, held from November to February, is a particularly spectacular time to visit. The most important days are November 22 and 23, when you can get the full experience. But don't worry, you can also enjoy a short form of this dance at Takachiho Shrine that is held 365 days a year!

Did you know that the Japanese sh**un kilns were located in Kyushu?👀

Okawachiyama is a beautiful village surrounded by mountains in Saga Prefecture that produced Nabeshima ware, one of the finest types of porcelain in Japan, from 1675 to 1871. It was produced for use by the Imperial Family, sh**uns, and wealthy families during the Edo Period. The techniques were guarded secrets, but some aspects of the Nabeshima style remain in modern day Imari ware porcelain.

Visit this town to learn about its history and look for all the ceramic details around the city: there are even bridges and signs made of porcelain!😄
