Hello everyone from Osaka where I'm spitting and coughing, having caught a bad bronchitis. This did not prevent me from doing with Kumiko very interesting activities that I let you discover in pictures and videos.
Despite temperatures still too hot for the season, the rice harvest is underway and last weekend we attended the harvest festival near our house. Large wooden floats, very finely decorated and called "Danjiri", are pulled by the young men of each neighborhood.
Otherwise, we did a very hard hike to Mount Katsuragi, famous in the fall for its thousands of wild reeds.

Now that this page is alive again, the latest news 🥸.
I'm already in Osaka since the end of June and will stay there until December.
After reviving soon the website, I plan to organise the first tours next spring.
Travel news :
- A few weeks ago, I made for the first time a wonderful trip to Hokaido. I'll post soon here a photo album.
- And a few days ago, I went to the San'yo region, on the shores of the Seto Inland sea. I already posted pictures on my private FB page, but now I gathered here the best shots in a new album with some background info. Some photos are new, so everyone can take a look again 😎.

After more than 2 years without a life sign, I'm back again :-).
I'm now leaving in Japan 6 months a year and plan to revive soon my activity as a tourist guide.
In the next few months, I will revive the website with a Japanese hosting provider and a new offer.

Hiraoka Futon Daiko Matsuri 2017 - 03

As the rain almost stopped, the team of the Futon Daiko cart removed the plastic protection. You'll see in this video the procedure of pulling up the cart and going through the Torii (entrance gate of the Shinto Shrine).

Hiraoka Futon Daiko Matsuri 2017 - 02

The Futon Daiko cart is shouldered by about 40 people and brought up to the top of the Shinto Shrine for purification. In this video you'll see the all team passing me pretty close.

The arrival of 3 Futon Daiko, carts with a weight of 1 to 2 tons, shouldered by about 40 people. Due to rain, they are protected by a big plastic enveloppe. The humping movement looks a little like the traditional Japanese (or Chinese) lion dances.
