A café with a history of over 100 years, Daimaru Shoyu Café is named after and founded on the site of Daimaru Shoyu (Soy Sauce) brewery which was established in 1908 and continues to produce soy sauce to this day ✨

Kumihama Doll Festival 🎎🎍

Doll Festival, or Hina Matsuri, sometimes called ‘Girl’s Day’, is celebrated all over Japan, dedicated to praying for health, fortune and happiness for girls✨

The official date is March 3rd, but in Kyotango’s Kumihama, celebrations start much earlier in January 🗓️

Inaba Family Merchant House is the main location for the doll festival in Kumihama, and during the festival you can see a variety of dolls, dating back as far as the Edo period (1603-1868) up until those locally made today 🎎

It is free to visit the Inaba House and they even offer bamboo light and bamboo doll making experiences 🎍

This Saturday 23rd November marks the annual dressing of the Jizo ritual, where the Heiji Jizo is clothed in a matching hood and coat made of straw 🌾
