[The Geisha District Of Gion]

Gion, Kyoto is one of the most well known Geisha districts in Japan, with beautifully preserved architecture and traditional customs and entertainment.

The streets of Gion are characterised by old wooden townhouses (machiya) which contain teahouses (ochaya), shops and restaurants.

These buildings give the district a beautiful old world charm and, understandably the area is very popular with tourists. There are several modern streets in the area too which house accommodation, bars, clubs, restaurants and the like.

The Geisha, or Geiko as they refer to themselves, operate in much the same way as they always have, providing entertainment to patrons of the tea houses.

Kyoto is stepped in history, and is one of those cities where many of the things on the tourist trail are genuinely worth doing. Gion is no exception, and walking through its streets feels like stepping back in time.

Visit and be pleased with the traditional and modern city style of Kyoto.
And of course, Deaperate hotel group is always there to welcome you.

[Cycling In Kyoto]

Kyoto is one of the world’s greatest walking cities, and perfect for biking, too. The back streets of Kyoto are narrow and quiet – but the difference here is that the scenery once you're on those back streets is stunning.

It's easy to see why cycling is popular here. Kyoto is mostly flat and traffic is orderly. There a many places to rent bicycles in Kyoto. You’ll find rental shops in all the main sightseeing districts like Arashiyama etc.

Plenty of alleyways make for quick shortcuts. The city’s grid pattern makes it’s hard to get lost. Roads slope slightly upward as you head north, but the incline is manageable.

Why don't you come to Kyoto and be surprised with a beautiful sight like that?
Please come and enjoy at Kyoto!!!

【Beautiful night of the summer, Gozan-no-Okuribi】

August, this is the hottest month of the year but one of the most preferable month, because of Obon-holiday, obon-related festival and event all over japan!

In Kyoto, "Gozan-no-Okuribi" is one of the biggest summer feature.
The bonfire is set on the side of 5 mountains surrounding Kyoto, the way in which the fire makes some figures such as kanji-characters.
This used to be a tradition of Buddihsm to send back ancestor's spirits to afterlife as they come back this world during Obon, middle of August.

This fire is set on 16th of August. It's so impressive to see the fire-figures appear from the darkness and it is even sublime and somehow nostalgic when you know that our ancestors are go back while it is burning.

You can see "Gozan-no-Okuribi" from the rooftop or some higher place in the city.

And also, "Toro-Nagashi", let little lanterns floating in the river of pound, is happening in many place.

Don't miss this unusual and spectacular night view of Kyoto!
