During the autumn period, many temples hold special lighting events. If you are in Kyoto in early October, we recommend you to join this special night illumination event held in cooperation with Nishihonganji Temple and NAKED for the first time.

Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the World Heritage registration, and the 800th anniversary of the founding of Naked Lights at Nishi Hongwanji Temple 2024.

Special opening of the inner sanctuary and the statue of Shakyamuni Buddha in the Shaka-do Hall of the World Heritage site, Enryaku-ji Temple on Mt. Hiei　/Mt. Hiei 1D PASS（English Below）

比叡山的延曆寺被誉为日本佛教的發源地。今年，为了纪念延历寺被注册为世界文化遗产30周年，将举行一次展览，並進行释迦堂內部的特別公開。西塔的釋迦堂是是延曆寺中现存最古老的建築。除了特别開放释迦堂中的主要秘密佛像释迦如来和内部圣殿的特别參觀外，還會举行藝術家村松亮太郎的参与式藝術“DANDELION”的特别展览。

活動目的是希望通過祈祷超越所有差异将世界聯繫起来。通过将最新的数碼技藝與延曆寺中最古老的建築融合，我们创造並驗驗了一個新的佛陀世界。延历寺一直在傳送和平的信息，這次展览继续通過超越语言的藝術将和平的思想聯繫到下一代。

Enryakuji Temple on Mt. Hiei is said to be the birthplace of Japanese Buddhism. This year, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Enryakuji Temple's registration as a World Cultural Heritage site, a special exhibition of the rare opening of the Shaka Hall, the oldest existing building in Enryakuji Temple, will be taken place.

In addition to the special opening of the principal secret Buddha Shaka Nyorai statue in the Shaka Hall and the special viewing of the inner sanctuary, they will hold a special exhibition of the participatory art "DANDELION PROJECT" by artist Ryotaro Muramatsu, born out of a desire to connect the world with prayers for peace that transcend all differences.

When participants stand in front of the art object "DANDELION" and blow on the fluff, the dandelion fluff carrying prayers for peace spreads across the entire wall through projection mapping, and the light of candles spread on the floor gently illuminates the inside of the Shaka Hall. By integrating the latest digital art technology with the oldest building in Enryakuji Temple, we create and experience a new world of Buddha. Enryakuji Temple, which has been sending messages of peace and connecting people, will continue to connect thoughts of peace to the next generation through art that can communicate beyond language through this exhibition.

Summer in Kyoto is hot and humid. How about a day trip to the mountainous area to breathe fresh air and to cool down? Kibune, located in the north of Kyoto City, is used as a retreat spot to escape the summer heat.

During May to September, the restaurants in Kibune offer a charming and seasonal dinning style known as “Kawadoko” for visitors to enjoy seasonal delicacies in a cool and relaxing atmosphere. Kawadoko, which literally means “floor on top of a river” is a special and seasonal way of dining to escape the summer heat and is also one of the summer charms of Kyoto.

A patio-like tatami floor is built above a river where guests can sit and dine on while listening to the sound of stream and enjoying the cool breeze. The typical cuisine for Kawadoko is “Kaiseki”, a traditional multi-course meal made by seasonal ingredients and local delicacies.
