The reason is Mishima's water (the underground water of Mt. Fuji)!

Lake Tanuki in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture is also known as the sacred place of Diamond Fuji.
Lake Tanuki has a reputation as a place where Mt. Fuji can be seen high and has a good view, but the charm of Lake Tanuki is that Diamond Fuji appears as an upside-down Fuji.
This phenomenon is called Double Diamond Fuji because when Diamond Fuji is reflected on the surface of the lake as an upside-down Fuji, two rings of the sunshine.

’Tokuzomaru’ was founded in the 15th year of Taisho (1926 AD) and has a history of 98 years.

The Kogashi Matsuri Festival is a traditional summer festival in Atami City held every July.
It is known as the annual grand festival of the KINOMIYA Shrine, which has a history of about 1,300 years, and is familiar to local residents and tourists alike.
Traditional wooden carved floats from each town, decorative floats that make full use of ideas, participants dressed in colorful costumes, and a magnificent parade of mikoshi are the highlights of the Kogashi Festival.
In the evening, the sound of drums and flutes echoes in the center of the city, and the lively atmosphere of the festival makes you feel the arrival of summer.

The KINNIKU-MAN Museum has opened in Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

"Nekosai Day" is a simple hospitality in the small port town of Hokkawa Onsen that has been going on for more than 20 years.
After praying for the safety and good catches of fixed net fishing, freshly caught fish was grilled over charcoal and served free of charge to locals and tourists alike.
In November 2023, with the installation of the "Monument to Happiness" in Nekosai Square and the completion of the "Moon Road Terrace", we have decided to hold "Nekosai Day" at dusk on the day of the full moon every month, instead of being held every year on Sunday mornings in April, May, and September.

The biggest highlight is Sunday afternoon!
After the Shinto ceremony, when the mikoshi is carried out, the shrine drums are beaten in each town.
Twenty-one magnificent floats, food stalls, and mikoshi appear one after another, competing against each other while driving around the shopping street that has become full of festivals.

You can meet fireflies in the Genbei River, which represents the clear stream of Mishima.
It is rare in Japan to be able to see fireflies in the center of the city, which is about a 5-minute walk from JR Mishima Station, and it is an experience unique to Mishima, the city of water.
If you want to see fireflies, go to the Genbei River.

The Kompira Festival Votive Crying Baby Sumo Tournament is held at Chokoji Temple, and it is an event in which babies from 6 months to 1 and a half years old compete against local wrestlers and pray for good health and good luck by having the golden god listen to the baby's cheerful cry.
Sumo wrestling is won by the baby who cries cheerfully due to the loud shouts of the event, and it has become an early summer tradition where families and spectators come together to share the joy of life.

Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace was registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2015 as a component of the "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution - Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding, and Coal Industries."
At the end of the Edo period, when Western gunnery was introduced as a defense against foreign fleets, the Nirayama reverberatory furnace was the iron melting furnace built by Magistrate Egawa Hidetatsu (Tan'an) to manufacture iron cannons.
It was a state-of-the-art factory in Japan at the end of the Edo period, where cutting-edge technology was gathered.

Shimoda Park offers a panoramic view of Shimoda City and Shimoda Port. Approximately 3 million hydrangeas fill the vast grounds, overwhelming visitors!

In 1854, the U.S. Navy led by Commodore Perry arrived on a black ship. The Kurofune Festival was started in 1934 to honor the great achievements of our predecessors at home and abroad who helped open the port of Shimoda, and to contribute to world peace and international goodwill.
Today, commemorative ceremonies and graveside festivals are held solemnly, while lively events are held at venues in the town and along the seaside. The Kurofune Festival is Shimoda City's biggest event and attracts many visitors every year during the season of fresh greenery!

Joren Falls【Lava flow of Hachikuboyama Volcano and lava plateau】
The Joren-no-taki Waterfall is one of the largest falls of Izu Peninsula. The cascade formed at the backdrop of the lava that flowed from the Hachikuboyama Volcano. The lava created the Kayano plateau and today, a large road (Route No. 136) runs through the landscape. The flat surface was also ideal for farmlands, which prompted people to build villages around the area.
Among the cliffs on the border of the lava flow one can see “columnar joints” (rocks shaped like columns that are formed when lava cools down and contracts).

Toizakura, which is in full bloom in January, is an early-blooming cherry blossom that blooms only in West Izu and Toi, with large petals and dyed red throughout, 6~7 flowers per branch.
Two varieties are also registered: a dark pink & red variety and a light pinkish white variety.

Atami Plum Garden is famous as the earliest blooming plum in Japan. Every year in late November ~ early December, the first plum blossoms bloom.
Including old plum trees that are over 100 years old, 469 plum trees of 60 varieties are in full bloom, and they bloom in order, from early → medium to late →. During the plum festival, you can fully enjoy the plum blossoms.
