Mishima's specialty is eel.

Why is Mishima's eel delicious?
The reason is Mishima's water (the underground water of Mt. Fuji)!
By soaking the eel in this water for 4~5 days, you can eliminate the fishy smell and muddy smell and burn only the excess fat.

’Tokuzomaru’ was founded in the 15th year of Taisho (1926 AD) and has a history of 98 years.
Here you can enjoy KINMEDAI; Golden snapper dishes prepared in a variety of different ways, such as boiled fish, grilled fish, and sashimi, as well as a variety of side dishes.

The grilled fish is tender and juicy, the sashimi is fat and fresh, and the boiled fish is stewed in Tokuzomaru's own secret sauce, which is rich and juicy and not too salty, and you can eat several bowls of rice with the sweet sauce.

Even the locals praise it as a true fisherman's local food! 🍽️✨

Genbei-gawa River is a waterside spot that represents "Mishima, the city of Clear water".
Although it is a 5-minute walk from Mishima Station, it is a beautiful stream with fireflies dancing on early summer nights.

There are stepping stones and wooden paths IN the river, so you can enjoy a "babbling walk".
Part of the route passes through temples and shrines, making it feel like a little adventure!

The spring water of Mt. Fuji, which flows through the Genbei-gawa River is 15~16°C throughout the year.
It feels cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Please bring a towel and enjoy dipping your feet in the spring water!

The Kogashi Matsuri Festival is a traditional summer festival in Atami City held every July.

It is known as the annual grand festival of the KINOMIYA Shrine, which has a history of about 1,300 years, and is familiar to local residents and tourists alike.

Traditional wooden carved floats from each town, decorative floats that make full use of ideas, participants dressed in colorful costumes, and a magnificent parade of mikoshi are the highlights of the Kogashi Festival.

In the evening, the sound of drums and flutes echoes in the center of the city, and the lively atmosphere of the festival makes you feel the arrival of summer.

Hakone Seiroku area has been covered with lava flows and volcanic ash due to the repeated eruptions of Mt.
This lava flow has a property that allows water to pass through it well, which is why water gushes out in abundance on Mishima.
Clean rainwater is essential for the healthy growth of people and vegetables.

The vegetables grow well and are luscious due to the well-drained, soft volcanic ash soil brought about by nature, as well as the fertile soil nurtured by the wisdom and ingenuity of the people of the past.

July 6 is the Mishima Corn Festival. Eat corn and feel the arrival of summer.

"Nekosai Day" is a simple hospitality in the small port town of Hokkawa Onsen that has been going on for more than 20 years.
After praying for the safety and good catches of fixed net fishing, freshly caught fish was grilled over charcoal and served free of charge to locals and tourists alike.

In November 2023, with the installation of the "Monument to Happiness" in Nekosai Square and the completion of the "Moon Road Terrace", we have decided to hold "Nekosai Day" at dusk on the day of the full moon every month, instead of being held every year on Sunday mornings in April, May, and September.

At dusk, when the color of the sky changes, while waiting for the moon to rise, you can enjoy delicious fish.
Enjoy a mysterious moon road experience with the Kitagawa people while experiencing the local culture on "Nekosai Day", a full moon hospitality that brings happiness.

"Nekosai" means 根拵網 (Nekosai Ami) = fixed shore net.

Whether it will bloom or not, you won't know until that year. ...

Such a little capricious jacaranda.
In 1990, two bottles were donated by Atami's international sister city, the city of CASCAIS in Portugal, and now there are more than 100 of them.
The world's three largest flowering trees, which are distributed mainly in tropical regions with perpetual summer, have now become the flowers that herald the beginning of summer in Atami.
Along the coast of Atami, in June, small blue-purple jacaranda flowers in the shape of trumpets color the sky like a bouquet from Omiya-Ryokuchi Park to the beach.

In Yoshiwara where is great looks up to Mt. Fuji of Fuji City.
Over 200,000 people gather every June and is the largest festival in Fuji City which is called "the best Gion Matsuri in Tokai".
Prayers to ward off evil spirits and plagues have been passed down in the form of festivals.

It is said that the routing of floats began in the 3rd year of Manji (1660), so it has a history of more than 350 years.
The biggest highlight is Sunday afternoon!
After the Shinto ceremony, when the mikoshi is carried out, the shrine drums are beaten in each town.

Twenty-one magnificent floats, food stalls, and mikoshi appear one after another, competing against each other while driving around the shopping street that has become full of festivals.

You can meet fireflies in the Genbei River, which represents the clear stream of Mishima.
It is rare in Japan to be able to see fireflies in the center of the city, which is about a 5-minute walk from JR Mishima Station, and it is an experience unique to Mishima, the city of water.
If you want to see fireflies, go to the Genbei River.

* During the period when fireflies are often generated, some of the electric lights around the Genbei River will be turned off, so please be careful of your step. Also, if you use a flashlight, light, etc., please be considerate of the fireflies and the people around you.

The Kompira Festival Votive Crying Baby Sumo Tournament is held at Chokoji Temple, and it is an event in which babies from 6 months to 1 and a half years old compete against local wrestlers and pray for good health and good luck by having the golden god listen to the baby's cheerful cry.

Sumo wrestling is won by the baby who cries cheerfully due to the loud shouts of the event, and it has become an early summer tradition where families and spectators come together to share the joy of life.

From mid-May to mid-June, you can enjoy watching wild fireflies on the Furukawa riverside of the Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace, which is registered as a World Heritage Site.
During the firefly viewing period, the Nirayama reverberatory furnace will be lit up.

From Saturday, May 18, 2024 to Sunday, June 9, 2024
Recommended viewing time: 20:00-21:00

Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace was registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2015 as a component of the "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution - Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding, and Coal Industries."
At the end of the Edo period, when Western gunnery was introduced as a defense against foreign fleets, the Nirayama reverberatory furnace was the iron melting furnace built by Magistrate Egawa Hidetatsu (Tan'an) to manufacture iron cannons.
It was a state-of-the-art factory in Japan at the end of the Edo period, where cutting-edge technology was gathered.

It's like a kaleidoscope!

Shimoda Park offers a panoramic view of Shimoda City and Shimoda Port. Approximately 3 million hydrangeas fill the vast grounds, overwhelming visitors!

There are many types of hydrangeas, and you can see more than 100 types of hydrangeas in the park with names such as ``Kashiwaba hydrangea'', ``Uzu hydrangea'', and ``Annabelle''.
The large flowers that line the promenade that goes around the park shine brightly during the rainy season and are sure to bring a moment of tranquility.

And Shimoda has the largest amount of golden sea bream landed in Japan. This year, we will also be holding a ``red squid campaign''. If you are satisfied with the hydrangea clusters, enjoy some delicious golden sea bream or red squid!

In 1854, the U.S. Navy led by Commodore Perry arrived on a black ship. The Kurofune Festival was started in 1934 to honor the great achievements of our predecessors at home and abroad who helped open the port of Shimoda, and to contribute to world peace and international goodwill.

Today, commemorative ceremonies and graveside festivals are held solemnly, while lively events are held at venues in the town and along the seaside. The Kurofune Festival is Shimoda City's biggest event and attracts many visitors every year during the season of fresh greenery!

Joren Falls【Lava flow of Hachikuboyama Volcano and lava plateau】

The Joren-no-taki Waterfall is one of the largest falls of Izu Peninsula. The cascade formed at the backdrop of the lava that flowed from the Hachikuboyama Volcano. The lava created the Kayano plateau and today, a large road (Route No. 136) runs through the landscape. The flat surface was also ideal for farmlands, which prompted people to build villages around the area.

Among the cliffs on the border of the lava flow one can see “columnar joints” (rocks shaped like columns that are formed when lava cools down and contracts).

【Fresh Suruga Bay Produce in a Down-to-earth Setting】
Named after its address, Minato 83 Banchi is a collection of down-to-earth restaurants and attractions, frequented by locals and tourists alike. With Suruga Bay, Japan’s deepest bay, right there, visitors can enjoy the freshest sushi, barbecued seafood, seafood rice bowls, and even deep-sea fish burgers at reasonable prices.

Besides food, Minato 83 Banchi also offers deep-sea-themed attractions. The Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium is the world’s first museum centered on deep sea species and is best known for taxidermy and frozen specimens of coelacanth, a so-called “living fossil.” For something more action-packed, try The Deep Sea World, an amusement ride where visitors fend off deep sea assailants in a pod armed with virtual lasers.
