The Nagahama Plum Bonsai Exhibition, held between January and March, is the preeminent bonbai
exhibition in Japan. Out of the city’s collection of some 2,000 plum bonsai, about 300 blossoming
trees are selected for display at Keiunkan, which originally served as a state guesthouse for the visiting
