【2025 : The 7th Walking Tour Held】
Date and Time: Sunday, January 19th, 9:00 - 12:00
Course: Departure from Shinagawa-shuku guesthouse & tours → Walk along the old Tokaido road → Calligraphy Experience → Return to Shinagawa-shuku guesthouse & tours

The owner of our guesthouse, “Taka-san,” explained the old Tokaido Street, “Kujira-zuka,” and the Ebara Shrine, while we walked around the town.
After that, we had a calligraphy experience at “Shokyo-in”.
Each of them chose a Chinese character they wanted to write and practiced. At the end, they wrote them on colored paper to complete their works.

【2025年:第7回ウォーキングツアーを開催しました】

コース: 品川宿ゲストハウス&ツアーズ出発→旧東海道街歩き→書鏡院→品川宿ゲストハウス&ツアーズ戻り

ゲストハウスのオーナータカさんの解説で、旧東海道や鯨塚、荏原神社の話を聞きながら、街歩きをしました。
そのあとは、書鏡院さんで書道に挑戦！皆さんが書きたい漢字を選び、練習。最後は色紙に書いて、作品を完成させました。
参加してくださった皆様、ありがとうございました！

【2024→2025 ! : The 6th Walking Tour Held】
Date and Time: Tuesday, December 31st, 23:00 - Wednesday, January 1st, 1:00
Course: Departure from Shinagawa-shuku guesthouse & tours → Walk along the old Tokaido road → Hatsumode at Shinagawa Shrine → Return to Shinagawa-shuku guesthouse & tours

We left the guesthouse at 23:00 on New Year's Eve and welcomed 2025 at Shinagawa Shrine.
Around 9:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve, we also had New Year's Eve soba noodles at the guesthouse, experiencing a traditional Japanese way of spending New Year's Eve.
At Shinagawa Shrine, we were also able to see the “Otakiage”.
（Otakiage is a Japanese ritual burning ceremony held at temples or shrines to purify and release old or spiritually significant objects, such as amulets, talismans, or other items with sentimental value.）

Many people participated in this event, and we all enjoyed welcoming the year 2025 together!

12月31日23時にゲストハウスを出発し、品川神社で2025年を迎えました！
大晦日の21時頃には、ゲストハウスで年越しそばを食べ、日本の伝統的な大晦日の過ごし方も体験できました。
品川神社ではお焚き上げを間近で見ることができ、あっという間に新年に。

マレーシア、オーストラリア、アメリカ、シンガポール、熊本と、たくさんの方に参加いただき、みんなで楽しく2025年を迎えられました！

Course: Departure from Shinagawa-shuku guesthouse & tours → Walk along the old Tokaido road → Enjoy the Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition → Return to Shinagawa-shuku guesthouse & tours

We went to the Ukiyoe Immersive Art Exhibition in Tennoz to experience Japanese art culture.
We walked around Shinagawa, which was the location of Ukiyoe's “53 Stages of the Tokaido” painted by Hiroshige Utagawa, on our way to the exhibition site.

道中は、歌川広重の「東海道五拾三次品川日之出」の舞台になったと言われる場所を歩きながら会場へ。
日本の伝統的なアートと現代の技術を融合させたアートを楽しみました。

[2024: 4th Walking Tour Held]

Course:
Departure from Guest House Shinagawa-shuku → Walk along the Old Tokaido → Sushi-making experience → Return to Guest House Shinagawa-shuku

Starting from the Old Tokaido, we made a detour to the Kujirazuka (Whale Mound) and interviewed local shop owners to hear about the town’s history, giving participants a little taste of Shinagawa through a street-walking tour.

We then headed to Aoi Sushi, located in Aomonoyokocho.
First, Mr. Hayashi gave us a lesson on how to properly shape sushi, after which everyone got to try it for themselves. Everyone was so focused that no one spoke during the experience.
Finally, it was time to eat! The sushi we made ourselves was absolutely delicious!

コース:ゲストハウス品川宿出発→旧東海道街歩き→寿司作り体験→ゲストハウス品川宿戻り

旧東海道から始まり、鯨塚に寄り道をしたり、まちの店主さんにインタビューをして町の歴史をきいたりと
品川を少し感じる街歩きツアーでした。

青物横丁にある葵寿司さんへ。
初めに、林さんから寿司の握り方のレクチャーをいただき、その後各自で体験。
誰も話さないくらい集中していました。
そして、やっと実食！自分で握ったお寿司は絶品！

Course: Departure from Guesthouse Shinagawa-shuku → Walk along the old Tokaido road → Change into yukata at Chabako → Enjoy the Bon Dance & food stalls at Tenmyokoku-ji Temple → Return to Guesthouse Shinagawa-shuku

Despite the ongoing heat and frequent sudden downpours, we were fortunate with the weather and successfully held the tour.
Tenmyokoku-ji Temple was bustling with activity! Despite the lingering heat, all the participants enjoyed wearing yukata and the festive atmosphere.

暑い日が続き、ゲリラ豪雨も多いですが、なんとか天気にも恵まれ無事にツアーを開催することができました。
天妙国寺は大賑わい！少し暑さも残る中でしたが、参加した皆様は浴衣や、お祭りの雰囲気を楽しんでくれていました。

【🏮Walking tour to join the Bon Dance in Yukata!👘】

7月27日に天妙国寺で開催される盆踊りに、
みんなで浴衣を着て参加するツアーです。

浴衣は貸し出すので、持っていなくてもOK！👘
もちろんお気に入りの浴衣をお持ちいただいても◎
着付けは、旧東海道沿いにあるお茶屋「茶箱」さんにて行います🍵

浴衣で歩く旧東海道は、いつもと違って見えるかも？

浴衣を着た後は、南品川の天妙国寺で行われている盆踊りに参加します。
みんなでワイワイ盆踊りや屋台を楽しみませんか？

This tour is for everyone to wear yukata and participate in the Bon Odori dance at Tenmyokoku-ji Temple on July 27.🏮

You do not have to bring your own yukata, as we will lend them to you!👘

Dressing will be done at “Chabako,” a teahouse along the Old Tokaido Highway.🍵

After putting on the yukata, we will join the Bon Odori dance held at Tenmyokoku-ji Temple in Minami-Shinagawa.

【2024: Second Walking Tour Held】
Date and Time: Saturday, June 8th, 15:00~
Course: Guesthouse Shinagawa-shuku → Hinkai Park → Back Streets → Guesthouse Shinagawa-shuku → Shinagawa Shrine

Saturday’s weather was also excellent, perfect for carrying the mikoshi.
Guests from the Korean guesthouse with whom we have an agreement also joined carry the mikoshi.

We carried the mikoshi back to the guesthouse and then, with volunteers, carried it to Shinagawa Shrine, making for a valuable experience.
Even participants who initially said it was tough started enjoying themselves more and more as they carried the mikoshi.
Seeing the bright expressions on the participants’ faces while carrying the mikoshi made me really glad we could hold the festival!

【2024年:第2回ウォーキングツアーを開催しました】

コース:ゲストハウス品川宿→品海公園→裏道→ゲストハウス品川宿→連合渡御（有志で宮入り）

土曜日の天気もよく、担ぐには最高の天気でした。
協定を結んだ韓国のゲストハウスの方たちも、お神輿を担いでくれました。

ゲストハウスまで担いできて、有志で品川神社まで担いでいき貴重な体験をすることができました。
始めはつらいと言っていた参加者の方も、担いでいるうちにどんどん楽しくなってきて
もっと担ぎたい！となっている様子や、担いでいるときの参加者のかたの顔がとても晴れやかで
本当にお祭りができてよかったなと思いました！

Let’s carry portable shrine in Shinagawa!
品川神社の例大祭でお神輿を担ごう！

A mikoshi is a portable shrine used during festivals for the gods to travel around the local area.

When carrying a mikoshi, there is a dress code which includes wearing a "happi" coat and "jikatabi" (split-toe footwear). These items are available for rent at the guest house, so you don't need to worry!

お神輿とは、お祭りの時に神様が地域内を回る為に乗る「輿」（乗り物）のことです。

お神輿を担ぐ時には、服装にも決まりがあり、半纏と地下足袋を履いて参加します。
ゲストハウスで貸し出しがありますので、ご安心ください！

[YEAR2023: The 7th Walking Tour in Shinagawa]

Tour course: Guesthouse Shinagawa-shuku → Old-Tokaido → Kimuraya（Japanese sweets shop） → Calligraphy experience（Nihon Shokyoin） → Guesthouse Shinagawa-shuku

We held a Shinagawa walking tour on December 5th!

A tour to experience calligraphy, a Japanese tradition.
We walked along the historic Old Tokaido Road and picked out our favorite Japanese sweets at Kimuraya. Many of the sweets are new to foreigners, such as daifuku and castella!
After that, the main calligraphy experience. We went to Nihon Shokyoin in South-shinagawa. After hearing about the history of calligraphy and the types of calligraphy brushes, there was plenty to do, including actually writing calligraphy and watching the teacher's performance.
Finally, we wrote the letters we practiced on colored paper and created a work!
Everyone created wonderful works.

今回は、日本の伝統である書道を体験するツアー。
歴史ある旧東海道を歩いて、木村家で好きな和菓子を選びました。大福やカステラなど、初めてみるお菓子ばかり！
その後は、メインの書道体験。南品川にある日本書鏡院に行きました。書道の歴史や筆の種類について話を聞いたあと、実際に書いたり、先生のパフォーマンスを見たりと盛りだくさん。
最後は、練習した文字を色紙に書いて作品作り！
皆さん素敵な作品に仕上がっていました。

Walking tour Shinagawa

Tonight is Harvest Moon.

We walked around Shinagawa at night and took photos with the full moon.

Unfortunately, the sky was cloudy, but we were able to take photos together.

The tea shop treated us to a special Japanese sweet and tea cocktail for tonight.

In the end, we filled our stomachs with ramen.

Course: Guest House Shinagawa-juku → Pass through the old Tokaido Shinagawa Shrine → Participate in the Setsubun Festival → Guest House Shinagawa-juku → Eat bean-throwing and ehomaki

Setsubun Festival for the first time in 4 years! It's a culture that is familiar in Japan,
but many people from overseas didn't know about it,
and it seemed like it was a very interesting experience.

For the ehomaki, we all stuffed our mouths with Gangan's ehomaki!

I feel like Setsubun brought me a lot of happiness and good fortune 😊

【第10回ウォーキングツアーを実施しました。】

4年ぶりの節分祭！

当たり前のように日本では馴染みのある文化ですが、海外の方は知らなかったという方も多く、とても面白い経験になったようです。

恵方巻きは、がんがんさんの恵方巻きをみんなで頬張りました！
節分で、幸せがたくさん、福がきたように思います😊

Course: Guest House Shinagawa-juku → Old Tokaido Highway → Shinagawa Shrine

We held a walking tour in the evening to enjoy New Year’s Eve in Shinagawa.
After warming up with New Year’s Eve Soba, we walked along the Old Tokaido Highway to Shinagawa Shrine.

We waited for our turn while introducing the culture of Hatsumode and the history of Shinagawa Shrine,
We also confirmed how to visit the shrine together!

We enjoyed the New Year with joy and sorrow over the result of the omikuji fortune.

We wish you a happy new year!
