Thank you to everyone who contacted us about our NHK special!! I know it's hard to find information about us so we are so happy that you searched us out to send us your kind thoughts :)

All throughout February, Naoki got filmed over and over, resulting in over 50 hours of footage... He is so nervous about the result that he can't bring himself to watch it, so thank you for watching it instead of us 😜

This special meant so much to us and we are so glad to hear that people enjoyed it, so for anyone who wants to talk with us, please send us a message and Naoki will message you directly! We are looking forward to seeing you all in Tokyo ❤️

I never had a good image of tours as a kid... you imagine someone with a gaudy t-shirt waving a flag with a roving mass of fifty-somethings in hawaiian shirts and sunglasses in tow... I never knew what a tour could be until Naoki and his friends started showing me around Tokyo. The image of the cold, formal Japanese melted like an ice cube...

Lately on my Survival Japanese tour, I'm focusing on getting that across. Not everyone needs to spend years studying Japanese... just a few words can be enough to extend the olive branch.

I changed my cover photo to a cute banner we made for our website on a whim and never expected to get so much love from our guests ❤

Since we've been doing homestay guests less and tour guests more, we've gotten to meet a lot of new beautiful people, but some of our precious guests have left without really getting to know us and really go wild together. We want to start having afterparties with our guests to keep in touch and let new Handsome Boys into the fold.

What kind of time would you be interested in spending with Handsome Boys outside of the tour? Did you have an experience hanging out with us that you would like new guests to get the chance to try? Would love to hear people's memories of crazy Naoki 😂

we are opening our doors to airbnb reservations have been cancelled due to the law changes.

Since Japan's recent law changes regarding Airbnb, around 80% of listings have been unable to continue operation from June 15th on. We are sad to say that Tokyo Handsome Boys' house has been affected as well. We have lost something so important to us, not a chance to make extra cash, but a chance to meet new guests and have unforgettable experiences with people from around the world who come to love Japan before our eyes. But we don't want to lose that!! TOKYO HANDSOME BOYS won't go down without a fight ✊

So we are happy to say we are opening our doors to those whose reservations have been cancelled due to the law changes. We cannot accept payment for our house, but we are offering our house FREE of charge with the purchase of one Tokyo Handsome Boys local experience and one tripadvisor review per participant. Before, we shared our home with our guests. Now, we will share that plus, ALL of Tokyo with you!! Let's take a hard situation and turn it into a スーパー CHANCE ✌️🐵

It has been our pleasure to accept over 400 guests with an average 5.0 star rating over four years and three houses. It was such a pleasure having guests not just in our home but going with them around the city that we were happy to spend all the money we made, but now because we can't accept money for the house, we must ask for a little money to pay for our own part in going out and exploring Tokyo with you. We don't intend to make a profit so please accept this single condition in staying with us and thank you for your understanding 🙏🙇‍♂️

Hello my handsome boys and girls little check in from Kebin~

I can't wait for all of you to come back and visit so we can show all you our favorite neighborhood, the endlessly deep and magical Shinjuku Nichome, with its hundreds of tight-knit bars packed on top of each other stretching up to the heavens, wanderers peering high and low to find a cozy nomiya to call their home tonight...

I have just one question, this is great for bars, but who decided to make all the houses in the whole city this size??

Yes I am sorry to say that we are no longer renting a house in Asakusa for guests, as it was too tight for us to live in and share with guests and there was no way for us to recreate the classic Shinjuku sharehouse style. It is a damn shame, yes damn shame but we are still dreaming of a new Handsome House where we live together with the guests in harmony, two stories with two broad windows facing out on a wide front yard lush with foliage, where we toss the frisbee to Maro-chan the Shibu Inu of our dreams, without a care in the world...

In the urban jungle of Tokyo such a home is the stuff of fantasy. But if we can be with our guests, we can brave any sardine can apartment they throw at us!! Im just gonna Keep Tryin like Utada Hikaru told me. Yall are hold on for us too right? Handsome Boys is gonna make something happen, hold up. Things are lookin good for 2018.

Tokyo Handsome Boys Crowdfunding is LIVE! For a period of 15 days from October 16th to October 30th (until midnight PDT), we are attempting to raise $5,000 for our tour expansion and to purchase electric bicycles to improve our tour quality. Tokyo Handsome Boys wants to bring the young people who are shaping and giving life to Tokyo every day to the forefront as tour guides, and we want your help!! Backer rewards are offered in the form of Tokyo tours (no expiration date!), and Japanese/English Skype lessons from Kevin are available as well.

Because of IndieGogo's flexible funding program, we'll be able to complete our campaign even if we don't reach the necessary funds. To be honest, when I first returned to Japan after graduating from UGA, I thought I was going to start a guest house with Naoki, and I'm sure that's what I told many of you. Pretty soon I found out that wasn't in the cards, but I was not at all ready to become a tour guide. As I'm sure many of you remember, I had spent the majority of my first year in Tokyo drinking and playing board games in the dorm. The day before our first real tour after launching our website, Naoki and I had a huge fight over the goal of our tours, with Naoki shouting, "on your own, you don't even think about these tours at all!!" and me shouting "I don't even know why we're doing tours in the first place!!". Against all expectations, our tour the next day was an overwhelming success, thanks to the kindness and understanding of our guest, Lucas.

We've come a long way since that point, greeting over 30 guests in half a year, over a huge variety of Custom Tour courses. Each time has been an amazing new adventure, packed to the brim with heart-moving successes and heartbreaking failures. I honestly can't believe how much has happened in the last year with Tokyo Handsome Boys. Someday I'd like to meet each of you in person and talk all about it - since I've been here I've missed out on so many of your lives as well. So I'm secretly hoping this campaign will be the push you need to come visit Tokyo; after all, if you donate for one of the tour reservation tours they will never expire, so you can hold onto it until you're ready to come see us!

Handsome Boys are in full swing!!! The last few days Naoki, Rina-chan and I pulled together to create a humble shrine to our tours in the Asakusa Airbnb. Because we aren't living there, sometimes we don't get the opportunity to see our guests, but we definitely want to go out with them - Tokyo is always better with the Boyz. If you or someone you know is coming through Tokyo anytime soon, stop on by! I'm sure we could work out a discount (if Naoki tells you it's free please try to stop him!!)

KEVIN'S AIRBNB HOPPING VOL. 1: AKABANE

Big announcement from Tokyo Handsome Boys: Your handsome host Kevin is de facto homeless!! 😱 Luckily so many Tokyo people are willing to share their homes with me for low low prices... So who needs a house anyway when I can have the whole city?? This time in the north Tokyo area Akabane I met so many nice people out drinking on the Silk Road, especially an eccentric middle-aged couple who introduced themselves as John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Although I was a complete stranger they met on the street, they invited me to their barbecue the next day on the Sumida River!! I am continually amazed by the kindness of Tokyo people if you just have the cojones to go out and try to meet them. That's the spirit of Tokyo Handsome Boys! Any of our friends who happen to be in Tokyo, send me a message and we can go together 👯‍♂️ See you then!!

We had a great time with our newest guests Chat and Paolo from the Philippines!! We got a little tired of our usual Harajuku->Shibuya course so we decided to take some backroads around "Urahara", the deeper streets of Harajuku. We were even lucky enough for some of the local ladies to let us harass them into taking a pic together... Yo but next time lemme get that number too??? Paolo is a pilot and he is gonna get a job with ALL NIPPON AIRLINES so we can have a personal handsome jet service. Shouts out also to our new guide Rina-chan

This week, the Tokyo Handsome Boys encountered their greatest test yet. A group of ten guests came from Israel for a specially-prepared tour of Tokyo, including basically every major tourist site in the city. Because the Tokyo Handsome Boys specializes in deep local areas over major tourist attractions, we found ourselves over and over again playing roles of the traditional "tour guides", to the stark contrast of our usual "exploring with friends" style. But we are not ones to run from a challenge, and to defeat your enemy, you must know your enemy. And a challenge it was. We were destroyed, then built up again from scratch. We were burned to ashes, then rose from them like beautiful phoenixes. Mistakes were made, lessons were learned. And now the Handsome Boys stand tall, ready for their next encounter with fate. Joining us for the tour was the fabulous Min-chan, who has come from Korea to study as a disciple of the Handsome Boys. He is practicing his photography jutsu, and working hard to become official videographer for the Handsome Boys Channel, coming soon. See you then!

Together with our new guests the Tokyo Handsome Girls, Ieva and Sylvia from Lithuania, Yuuya and I (Kevin) took the helm for the first time as dual Handsome Boys leaders. It's a lot of responsibility... Ok, bring it!! Luckily, they were kind enough to have a great time for our sakes, and we made it through this one unscathed. Not pictured: Kevin's Karaoke Krash Kourse, featuring all the greatest songs you can learn to sing along to by the end of the song even if you've never heard them, as the initially-shy pair learned to belt out Barbara Ann with the best of them. But truly, the best part of karaoke is when mutual loves of a song come together: When we paired up for I Would Do Anything For Love But I Won't Do That, by the end of the song I really thought Sylvia and I were a couple. Unfortunately she's married with a kid... Damn! Better luck next time!
