🎍✨Ring in the New Year with a feast of tradition: Osechi Ryori (おせち料理)🥢🍱

Osechi is a tiered box (juubako, 重箱) with each tier containing food that symbolizes wishes and blessings for the year ahead. Here's a glimpse into these beautiful layers:

🌸First Tier (Ichi no Ju, 一の重): Celebratory appetizers
Kouhaku Kamaboko (紅白かまぼこ): red and white fishcakes for happiness, purity and protection against evil spirits
Kurikinton (栗きんとん): candied chestnuts and sweet potato for wealth
Kazunoko (数の子): herring roe for prosperity and fertility
Tazukuri (田作り): candied sardines for a good harvest
Kobu Maki (昆布巻き): seaweed rolls for happiness
Kuromame (黒豆): black soy beans for health and diligence
Datemaki (伊達巻): sweet rolled omelet for knowledge and culture
🍶Second Tier (Ni no Ju, 二の重): Seafood and vinegar dishes
Kohaku Namasu (紅白なます):
Tai (鯛): sea bream for celebration
Ebi (海老): shrimp for long life
Su-Hasu (酢蓮): pickled lotus root for good out look for the future, fertility and purity
Takaki Gobo (たたきごぼう): sesame burdock root for stability and perseverance
🍲Third Tier (San no Ju, 三の重 ): Stewed dishes
Nishime (煮しめ): simmered vegetables for safety of family

And no New Year is complete without Ozoni (お雑煮), a warm soup with mochi!
