Koroku Shrine in northern Tsushima.
This shrine has a beautiful white torii gate facing the sea.

This shrine has a story.
A long time ago, the god of Kuroshima in Tsushima and the god of Koroku Shrine fought.
The god of Kuroshima threw a pine tree, and the god of Koroku Shrine threw a bamboo.
For that reason, there are many bamboos growing on Kuroshima and pine trees growing around Koroku Shrine!

📍1 hour by car from Tsushima Airport.
You can enjoy a 30 minute hike to the shrine!

←This weekend is the Toyosaki Shrine Grand Festival⛩️ first time in three years!

*The top image is last year's “Mai of Urayasu” kagura ✨
The Urayasu no Mai is the same mai that appears in film “Your Name”.
The Imperial Household Agency held seminars all over the country in 1940 for ceremony of the 2,600th anniversary of the Imperial era, and it became popular throughout Japan.
“Urayasu no Mai”means "dance of the heart wishing for peace"! 🕊️

Did you know…..? In Tsushima there are 5 inhabited islands other than the main land.

“Shimayama” island is the largest of those and there live 25 habitants. There is a bridge from main land, and the view from there is magnificent!

Hitotsubatago (Chinese fringe tree) is now in bloom in Waniura, the northernmost town in Tsushima 🇯🇵
This cute Snow White flower is also called as Umi-terashi ( same name as ferry that goes among Hitakatsu- Hakata)🚢

Even though this tree is easy to glow, in Japan it is only seen in Tsushima, and only few other areas.( Hitotsubatago is listed on the red list in Japan🇯🇵)

On April 29th, there will be held Hitotsubatago festival 🎪✨

📍Kamitsushima-Machi

We had an opportunity to see releasing Tsushima leopard cat back to the wild. This Tsushima leopard cat was injured and had treatment at the Tsushima wildlife conservation center.

He was hissing in the cage, though once the cage was opened, he glanced around for a moment and then ran into the bush.

Live strong in the wild! Hope to see you sometime again🐈✨

Nagasaki pref is where the most pearls are cultured in Japan for its calm ocean and rias coasts appropriate for culturing pearls.
Tsushima island is no exception, and many famous pearl brand have their plants in Tsushima.

“Tsushima pearl” is where you can purchase pearls which are normally discarded because of their uniqueness for its colors and shapes. Also you can enjoy accessories making experience!
