Community applications are being accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for two new pilot programs: the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot and the Rural Community Immigration Pilot. Onboarding and training communities for these initiatives is scheduled to start this fall, or around September 2024.
Through these programs, up to 5,500 applications for permanent residence are to be handled.
Selected rural communities in western Canada and Ontario receive assistance from the IRCC through the Rural Community Immigration Pilot program in order to draw and keep immigrants who can contribute their skills to the local economy and help these areas thrive. In exchange, these communities provide immigrants with assistance in establishing themselves.
On the other hand, the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot will concentrate on increasing the number of francophone immigrants who establish themselves in Francophone minority communities outside Quebec. It will also support the economic growth of these communities and help in the restoration and boosting of their demographic weight.

International students may soon be allowed to work for 24 hours per week while classes are in session, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada says. This will take effect in the fall, which will be around September 2024.
With the revised 24-hour-per-week policy, they will still be able to work full time during scheduled academic breaks such as the summer and winter holidays or reading week.
International students were previously limited to 20 hours of work each week.
A new week has started. Here are the things you can do to make your intentions happen.
1. Give yourself time to reflect.
2. Make a list of your priorities and realistically customize it.
3. Stay responsible and keep track of your progress.

Processing timelines for the future will be made available online by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Applicants can use this information to estimate how long their applications will take to process.
A number of high-volume immigration programs will be eligible to use the updated processing times, including:
✅ Canadian Experience Class (Express Entry)
✅ Provincial Nominees Program (Express Entry and non-Express Entry)
✅ Federal Skilled Workers (Express Entry)
✅ Quebec Skilled Workers
✅ citizenship grants
✅ citizenship certificate (proof of citizenship)
✅ spouse or common-law partner living inside Canada
✅ spouse, common-law or conjugal partner living outside Canada
✅ parents or grandparents
A report by the Office of the Auditor General last October indicated that there was a need to modify the way processing times are determined. One of the reports stated that "online processing time information should be supplied for all PR applications, accounting for the quantity and age of applications that are currently on file."
IRCC's initial actions to address several of the report's recommendations is the modification to the way processing times are computed. By the end of this year, updated service standards should be available.
We can always learn something from yesterday. We can go on with our lives and apply our experiences to the future. Instead of focusing on the past, we should think about how to move on from it.

Responsible for providing full assistance and support to customers, from addressing inquiries on documents to assisting in application fulfillment, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Basic Qualifications:
- Graduate of any Business and Communication related Bachelor’s Degree
- Previous experience in customer service or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Patience and empathic when dealing with customers.
- Ability to work well in a team and under pressure.

5. Administrative Assistants/Officers:

6. Immigration Case Officers:
Job Description:
Responsible for managing immigration cases, including visa applications, residency permits, and citizenship processes. They review documents, liaise with clients and immigration representatives, and ensure compliance with immigration laws and regulations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
- Knowledge of immigration laws and regulations of Canada, New Zealand, UK, Australia, US and the like will be a big plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

7. International Education Counselors/Managers:
Job Description:
Assist student visa applicants in selecting and applying to international educational institutions. They provide guidance on course selection, school application procedures, and academic preparation. Managers may oversee a team of counselors and develop strategies to attract students. May lead campaigns and events for prospective students.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, International Relations, or a related field.
- Knowledge of international education systems and study abroad programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Previous experience in education counseling or student recruitment is preferred for managerial positions.
8. Bookkeeper:
Job Description:
Responsible for maintaining financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger entries. They ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and may assist in preparing financial reports.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Starting May 21, 2024, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will issue 35,700 invitations for the reopening of the Parents and Grandparents program.
The IRCC has made it known that it plans to extend invitations to applicants for the PGP 2020 intake. This implies that those who will be invited in the next round will have submitted their profiles in 2020. The PGP will only take into account profiles submitted in 2020 for the fourth year in a row.
Candidates will be invited at random (using a lottery mechanism) under the PGP system. The email address provided by sponsors on their interest in sponsoring a form will be used to send these invites to them. All invites will be sent out in around two weeks, so sponsors are encouraged to start checking their emails on May 21.
The PGP only accepts applications (and sends out invitations) once a year, and invites candidates through lottery.
