Nakagawa Sake Brewery|The Spirit and Legacy of Tottori

🌾 The Revival of a Legendary Rice – “Gōrikimai”
Did you know? Nakagawa’s signature sake rice, Gōrikimai, once disappeared in 1954. It wasn’t until 1989 that a handful of preserved seeds were brought back to life. This miraculous comeback, known as “the revived rice,” is a testament to over two years of tireless effort by local farmers and brewers.

🌸 Junmai Daiginjo Gōriki|Proof of Revival
Using Gōrikimai grown exclusively in Tottori Prefecture under low-pesticide, low-nitrogen farming methods, this sake is brewed in small batches at low temperatures over time. Every sip captures the soul of Gōrikimai and the warmth of the Tottori terroir.

🍶 Brand Evolution|From “Fukujūkai” to “Inabazuru”
In the Taisho era, Nakagawa introduced the brand Fukujūkai, named after a traditional children’s song. In 1989, with the revival of Gōrikimai, the brewery launched a new label Inabazuru(いなば鶴), highlighting local rice and regional pride. Don’t miss their Junmai Ginjo sake, polished to 50% – a must-try for sake lovers!

🥇 International Awards & Recognition

Milano Sake Challenge 2023: Best Design Award & Tasting Bronze Medal
KuraMaster 2024: Junmai Daiginjo Category – Platinum Award
KuraMaster 2023: Gold Award
Milano Sake Challenge 2024: Junmai Ginjo Category – Platinum Award

🏔 Blessed Brewing Environment
Located in Tottori City facing the Sea of Japan, Nakagawa benefits from cold winters and pristine water sources—especially the Chiyogawa River system, one of Tottori’s three major rivers, which provides ideal water for sake brewing.

🛠 A Traditional Brewery That Never Stops Challenging
Nakagawa Sake Brewery was the first in Tottori Prefecture to obtain HACCP certification. While preserving traditional methods, they also embrace modern technologies like refrigerated pressing—blending the best of past and present.
