I know a number of lady friends who have been sexually assaulted at one point of their lives. Most were in their childhood when this happened. The perpetrators were people they trusted. Uncles feature a lot.
These women have grown up with scars without speaking about their ordeals to the people taking care of them because they were ordered to keep quiet. The trauma never really left, yet now, they are getting into relationships, and some marriages, with these wounds.
Society is usually quick to shame women who are considered 'promiscuous' but people get indifferent when a woman has been assaulted. Why? Is it just a cultural precept or there's something deeper to it? You'll hear people victimizing the victims more than they're ready to help them.
We need to Break this wall today. Every voice counts!
