Sometimes they flash, sometimes they glow, sometimes the females have wings, sometimes they look like fat larvae with big eyeballs.
Their flash color is generally somewhere between green and orange, though some can look kind of bluish.

They are fireflies~ Lampyridae

Light pollution affects lots of nocturnal creatures, but fireflies are especially susceptible to this particular threat:

This is because most fireflies rely on bio luminescent courtship signals to find their mates. When their nighttime environment is too bright, it get's difficult for them to see one another’s signals, so they never get to hook up with a mate.

In both the present and ancient times, this rock structure has held great significance for the local community.
One of the significant rituals done here are associated with marriages: It is believed that after sacrificing animal(s) at the site during a marriage ceremony, “heavy rainfall would follow immediately, and this is interpreted as a sign to cement the marriage vows.
The newlyweds usually passed under the rock with the husband singing traditional songs and the wife ululating.
The idea was that this would solidify a bride’s induction into the community and ensuring that she does not leave her husband.
