I visited the Mama Ngina Water Front Park one of the historical sites in kenya;its a nice place to visit and walk around. The place has been rebuilt into a very beautiful place since I last visited. There are nice gardens and an outdoor theatre like place to sit down. There is even a mosque in the compound and at far end a church.
Traders are still there and you can get trinklets, shells and snacks to enjoy as you walk around.
During the day, visitors get to catch a glimpse of huge ships sailing by on their way to the of and also the ferries that operate along the likoni ferry channel which is just nect to thee water front.
The sight of thee ocean waves crashing onto the shores and splashing against the cliffs soothes ones mind.
Little historical information is available for this area but the natives say there is alot of untold information about thee mama ngina water front amd its environment since the 15th century.
We have underground tunnels and caves on this cliffs at Mama Ngina that were first used by Arabs during the slave period as holding grounds before the slaves were sold abroad. They were later used as hiding banks by the Portuguese before thy staged attacks to the Arabs and natives.
This park is well secured having a police post within and patrol done by the National Youth Service Kenya - NYS . I would recommend almost everyone to visit and chill around, may they be couples, family, freinds or even business mates.
Later before leaving the place i had a chance to enjoy ferry ride though late hours.
