"How long does it take to climb Mount Everest (8848 m)? This mountain is almost twice the height of Mt. Kenya (5199m)!

Climbing such a big mountain takes time, maybe different depending on weather and how strong you are. Mount Everest is no different. Usually, it takes about eight to ten days to get to Everest Base Camp (this is almost like climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro) after spending a few days in Kathmandu.

When you are at Everest Base Camp, you will spend about six weeks training, getting used to the altitude (aclamization), going up and down to higher camps, and finally making the big push for the summit. Staying at base camp for a long time helps you get used to the cold and tough conditions and know the mountain well before trying to reach the top. But the exact plan can change based on weather and how well climbers are adjusting. Overall, it usually takes 6 to 10 weeks (42 to 70 days) for the whole Everest adventure. This will cost you from 70,000 USD upwards in permits, fees, and gear as the Nepali permit alone is 11,000 USD. Did you know the local Nepali name for Mt Everest is Sagarmatha which means 'Godess of the Sky'?
