Laikipia’s been enjoying some much needed rain lately, turning the landscape into a lush green wilderness.

Rain, rain at last….

Over the past couple of weeks Borana has been receiving rainfall almost on a daily basis. The thirsty ground is soaking up all the moisture and turning the landscape into a lush green pasture.

Borana Conservancy is dedicated to the sustainable conservation of land and wildlife. All proceeds from livestock and other commercial enterprises are invested into a wide range of community focused conservation efforts. Together with this landscape forms one of the largest continuous rhino habitats in East Africa........................................................................................

Fly camping - one of the most exhilarating ways to experience the bush. Taking you back to the simpler, more adventurous ways of spending a night in the wilderness

A double and a single tent please…

Our fly camps have been so popular recently, that even the rhinos wanted to try it out!

One of the most beautiful and tranquil bush lunch setups we’ve seen. Nothing beats al fresco dining in the African wilderness.

Drizzled in dappled sunlight from the shade of the Newtonia tree, surrounded by the smell of roses and chorus of bird song, the courtyard is the perfect spot for a delicious breakfast!

LAIKIPIA - the elusive Striped Hyena. What a lovely sighting! The Striped Hyena is considered “Near Threatened” globally.

Fantastic photograph by .marc “Striped Hyena w/DikDik kill” Just to see a Striped Hyena is a special occasion let alone to see one with a kill is quite rare indeed! We believe this female was taking her prize back to her pups @ the den. Apart from seeing Giza in all her splendor this was another highlight of my 9 nights here.👍 Can’t wait to get back again in March.

The Laikipia Plateau sprawls on the edge of Kenya’s Northern Frontier, stretching from the rim of the Great Rift Valley to Mount Kenya’s slopes. Over time in this natural haven, comprising ranches and conservancies, conservationists have made an effort to create a place where communities and wildlife can exist hand in hand in order to maintain and protect the region’s wonderful biodiversity.

On this World Tourism Day, we recognize the vital need to build sustainable tourism practices that benefit people and planet.

Segera's 4Cs framework of promoting conservation, community, culture and commerce is the key guiding principle for protecting our biodiversity, empowering communities, promoting their cultures, and contributing to the overall balance of our ecosystem.

The architect designed Arijiju to take in the ‘holy trinity’ of views. The bedrooms absorb the sunrise, the roof top admires the sunset and the pool slices out into the wilderness with Mount Kenya in perfect view.

Every corner of Segera's spaces are designed to capture the untamed beauty of the wild. Each of our villas are filled with window light and have private terraces that deliver intimate sightings of wildlife from our busy waterholes, and sweeping views of the open plains beyond.

How about that for a happy weekend shot?! 🤗🐈‍⬛

“A black panther leaping across a river, photographed mid air. Never did I imagine I would get this lucky. The bush is always full of surprises, that’s what I love about it! 🤩”

Changing Leaves at Sarara Camp 🍂🍃

Inspired by the landscape's incredible transformation after the rains, we felt it is time for Sarara Camp to transition into a new season too.

Just like the fresh shoots of grass and nectar of the wildflowers are attracting wildlife from near and far, we trust that the refurbishment will be a warm and inviting welcome (or welcome back) to Sarara for you as well.

Here’s a last look at Sarara Camp over the years.

The African wild dog is known by many names, including Cape hunting dog or painted dog. Its scientific name, Lycaon pictus, means “painted wolf,” referring to the animal's irregular, mottled coat.

Every morning at 6am sharp, a new shift of wildlife rangers reports to the Operations Base for their parade. A ceremony demonstrating their cohesion and unity.

As Samburu, these rangers are part of an indigenous community who have been living alongside, and sharing resources with wildlife for generations. They are uniquely positioned to protect some of the largest remaining populations of elephant, reticulated giraffe, and the endangered Grévy's Zebra.

Namunyak Community Conservancy is their home, and they are proud landowners as well. By taking a community-led approach to conservation, we hope to ensure that the Grévy's Zebra and other wildlife species are protected for generations to come.
