A flock of flamingos is called a flamboyance....... They flock in groups of up to several hundred birds. They often perform their mating displays together. However, different species and even different flocks will put a slightly different spin on their communal rituals.

The grey crowned crane has a breeding display involving dancing, bowing, and jumping. It has a booming call which involves inflation of the redΒ gular sac. It also makes a honking sound quite different from the trumpeting of other crane species. Both sexes dance, and immature birds join the adults. Dancing is an integral part of courtship, but also may be done at any time of the year.

- The view of the Mara plains below from the hot air balloon is unforgettable and awe inspiring. The hot air balloon takes you above the diverse habitats of the great Mara River, the forests, swamps and offers spectacular views of the wildlife below. The is one of the greatest wildlife phenomenon on the planet.

Each year from July to September, more than 2 million wildebeests, a large number of zebras, gazelles, impalas and elands move from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara.

The climax of the migration is the Mara River crossing where crocodiles await.

- Did you know that the name rhinoceros means β€˜nose horn’? The origin of the name is from ancient Greek – rhine (nose) and ceros (horn).

The white and black rhinos are the only species found in Africa and you might be wondering how they got their names. The name has nothing to do with their colour – in fact both rhinos are closer to grey than they are to white or black. https://maasailoitatours.com/what-is-the-difference-between-white-black-rhinos/

- Did you know that there are five species of rhinos in the world. This includes the two African species - white and black rhinos. The others are the Asian species - Greater one-horned, the Sumatran and the Javan rhinos.

The Sumatran, Javan and Black rhinos are listed as β€˜critically endangered’ as there are thought to be fewer than 70 Javan and 100 Sumatran rhinos left.

The white rhino is classified as 'near threatened’ with around 10,000 individuals, whereas the Greater one-horned rhino is currently vulnerable in the wild.
