"The Athi-Kapiti ecosystem was, in the 19th century, said to boast the most spectacular concentration of wild animals in East Africa. The main herds of wildebeest and zebras followed the rains, migrating in huge numbers and over vast distances ... Teeming herds of wild animals, of seemingly limitless number and variety, were ubiquitous, roaming the plains from horizon to horizon ... The area now occupied by Nairobi National Park was just one small corner of this extensive ecosystem."

This is an image of the wildebeest migration in Nairobi National Park, taken in 1994 from the African Heritage House. You would be forgiven for thinking this is the Masai Mara.
