Lorkulup morning call in maji ya fisi Masai Mara.
Mid last year Lorkulup had a swollen head (bad headspace quite literally). He had been having difficulty breathing . All signs indicated an adverse reaction to a poisonous bite.
Given Lorkulup's compromised respiration, it was too risky to anaesthetise him for treatment. Instead the Mobile Vet Unit delivered anti-inflammatory medication remotely via dart gun. Thanks to Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and KWS Mara for their rapid response and today he is okay.
Join us on a Safari to track the King of Masai Mara Lorkulup.

Ever seen/heard of Springhare?.. Even though they are called Springhares, they don't truly belong to the hares family rather are also known as African Kangaroo .
Their leap on powerful hind legs like kangaroos, their nocturnal lifestyle which offers rare opportunities for nighttime sightings, and their impressive burrow systems that showcase their digging skills, these elusive creatures are well-adapted to harsh environments, making them a fascinating subject for those seeking animal adaptations and survival strategies
They have been sighted in Samburu Game Reserve which adds an exciting dimension to the wildlife experiences in this Kenyan reserve. Known for its unique landscapes and diverse ecosystems.

Most Carnivores like Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs often avoid eating the intestines and internal organs, immediately after a kill, they tend to go for the most accessible parts like muscle tissues and dense parts of prey like Liver and Kidney. Instinctively they avoid parts that can introduce harmfull bacteria because of the undigested foods /remains in the guts of a prey.
Scavengers like Hyenas Jackals Vultures tend to eat everything, they have high acidity levels in their stomachs and have special adaptations to deal with decaying tissues and harmful bacterias, efficiently extracting every nutrients from carcasses and remains of a prey.
