Great blue turacos are gregarious, non-migratory birds; they live in groups of up to 10 individuals and several groups may gather in one large tree. Measuring about 70-76cm in length, it is the largest species of turaco. These birds are weak flyers, but they are strong climbers and are able to move nimbly on branches and through vegetation. Being fairly arboreal they rarely come down to the ground, only to drink or to bathe. Great blue turacos are active during the day. They feed starting from early morning and until the dusk; during the mid-day heat, the birds may rest in shades of the tree canopy. Great blue turacos are vocal birds and are usually heard at dawn and dusk. They make loud, guttural βcow-cow-cow-cowβ sound and a deep, resonant, rolling βkurru -kurru-kurruβ call.

Whether near or far, the resonant roar of lions is an unforgettable wilderness experience. Recently, three young males, known as the Sala Boys, made a buffalo kill, drawing the attention of nearby hyenas. Overnight this scuffle piqued the curiosity of two males from the Ridge Pride. The Largest Land Mammal Migration on Earth!
Did you know that South Sudan host the largest land mammal migration on EARTH?!
The spectacular phenomenon of millions of antelope migrating across South Sudan has been
revealed during the countryβs first comprehensive aerial wildlife survey of the Great Nile Migration, encompassing @boma_badingilo_southsudan national parks and stretching to the White Nile.
Each year, in an unmatched wildlife spectacle, approximately SIX MILLION of white-eared
kob, Mongalla gazelle, tiang and Bohor reedbuck move across this landscape and into Gambella National Park in Ethiopia.
The survey was conducted by @africanparksnetwork in partnership with the South Sudanese Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism, with support from @greatspineofafrica (The Wilderness Project).
Covering 122,774 km2, the findings confirm a remarkable and unmatched wildlife phenomenon across a landscape of immense ecological importance. The survey results, combined with data from the collaring of hundreds of different animals from multiple species, create a more detailed understanding of the ecosystem, which will help develop sustainable strategies for both wildlife and the people who depend on it.

A successful raid by these Matabele ants. They are masters at termite hunting. They attack a termite nest, neutralizing the soldiers and then killing the workers. They steal the eggs and nymphs within the termite colony to take back to their colony as food. The ants create a rattling or hissing noise as they move, but will do this especially when threatened.Itβs not just about the Big 5 when in the bush but also the little things we so love.
