The Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) is a membership based organization that has represented the interests of Kenyan travel agents since 1979 when its forerunner, the East African Society of Travel Agents, which had been in existence for 22 years was disbanded due to the collapse of the East African Community. KATA works to enhance and improve the Travel Industry business climate in Kenya by promoting the services of her members to the general public, protecting their rights and assisting them to optimize their businesses. Over 180 Travel Agencies and 14 organizations are active members. All these members are bound by KATA’s constitution and Code of ethical & professional Standards. While KATA promotes free trade without violating rules and regulations, we have entrenched a Constitution and Code of ethical & professional Standards that self-regulates thus providing the consumer with protection and peace of mind. The Association is a member of the Universal Federation of Travel Agents' Association (UFTAA) and the Association of Eastern and Southern African Travel Agents (AESATA). and works closely with the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Tourism and related Government Parastatals. KATA also plays an important role in the private sector bodies such as the Kenya Tourism Federation (KTF) and The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA). Our Vision To be the leading authority on travel trade in Kenya Our Mission To champion and sustain growth of travel industry in Kenya Code of conduct To create and maintain the highest possible standard of integrity among st Members of KATA in their dealings with Consumers, their principals and each other. Objectives The objectives of KATA are: 1. To promote and protect the interests of KATA and its members 2. To communicate the concerns of its members and to lobby government, public and private sector for actions. 3. To act on behalf of its members in discussions and negotiations on industry specific issues 4. To continuously review and appraise the needs of its Members so as to provide them with meaningful services and benefits; 5. To promote the highest code of ethical and professional Standards of its members in their dealings with consumers and each other. 6. To facilitate access to innovative and Industry driven financial and risk management services 7. To facilitate access to training, information and promotional materials for its members in a way that promotes their effective participation in the Industry. 8. To network with other bodies or organisations with similar business at both national and international level, and to leverage the relationships arising out of these alignments for the benefit of its members. 9. To continuously create awareness of the KATA brand and value.
