Adventurous hike to an active volcano!
Ol Doinyo Lengai, “Mountain of God” in the Maasai language, is an active volcano located in the Gregory Rift, south of Lake Natron within the Arusha Region of Tanzania, Africa. Part of the volcanic system of the East African Rift, it uniquely produces natrocarbonatite lava.

The mountain can be climbed in 6 hours, affording breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley and volcanic formations in the Ngorongoro highlands as you get to the summit. It is an adventurous hike starting at dawn. Remember this is an active volcano, the mountain remains closed for climbing when we have eruptions.

Lying on the base of the mountain, Lake Natron is said to be the only breeding area for the endangered Lesser Flamingoes that live in the Great Rift Valley and it is believed to be the world’s most important breeding site for the Lesser Flamingoes, accounting for 75 per cent of the global population.

A visit to Lake Eyasi can provide a firsthand cultural experience unlike any other you’re ever likely to encounter. This large saline lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley is the home of several bushmen tribes – one of the few places in Africa where traditional tribal life continues as it has for thousands of years.

Here you can meet and even follow along with the Hadzabe people, hunter-gatherers, who live by bow hunting and gathering local fruits and honey.

The only National Park next next to the city, Nairobi National Park is a must-see for those stopping by or transiting through Nairobi, Kenya.
Although you may not spot the Big Five here, it is the best place to spot the black rhino. You will also see wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, as well as lower concentrations of eland, giraffe and impala.
