Flamingos are a fascinating and iconic group of large wading birds known for their striking appearance and unique behaviours. Here are some key facts about flamingos:

Appearance: Flamingos are easily recognizable due to their long, slender necks, long legs, and vibrant pink or reddish plumage. The colour of their feathers comes from the pigments in the organisms they eat, like algae and small crustaceans.

Habitat: Flamingos are found in various regions around the world, primarily in warm, tropical and subtropical areas. They inhabit shallow, saline or alkaline lakes, lagoons, and estuaries, where they can feed on the small invertebrates that thrive in these environments.

Social Behavior: Flamingos are highly social birds and are often seen in large flocks that can consist of thousands of individuals. Living in such large groups helps protect them from predators and allows for efficient foraging.

In Kenya, they are popularly found in Lake Nakuru, Lake Elementaita, Lake Magadi, Lake Bogoria, and Lake Amboseli.

The beauty of Amboseli National Park is just amazing. You have to experience the amazing views, and the vastness of wildlife here.

The experience was capped by Kibo Safari Camp, with yummy food, and comfortable clean tents. We slept so well, we almost stayed another night!
