The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is a model and catalyst for conserving wildlife and its habitat. It does this through protecting and managing species, initiating and supporting community conservation and development programs, and educating of neighboring areas in the value of wildlife. For local communities, Lewa represents much more than the wildlife it protects.
Lewa serves as a safe refuge for the critically endangered black rhino and the endangered Grevy’s zebra.
The Conservancy is also home to variety of wildlife including lions, leopard, rhino, elephants, buffalos, cheetahs, serval cats
Grevy Zebras, Reticulated Giraffes, Beisa Oryxes, Gerenuks (Giraffe Antelopes), wild dogs plus more than 490 species of birds.

The Great Wildebeest Migration is a yearly event that takes place in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya. It involves the annual movement of over two million wildebeest, along with zebras, eland, gazelles, and other herbivores in the Maasai Mara..
Once the rainy season is over, the south and east plains of the Serengeti dry out, prompting the beginning of the Migration. This usually starts in April or May when herds begin to move north and west before returning once again near the end of the year.

Enjoy this year's great migration with us by having us tailor make a Wildebeest Migration Safari specifically tailored to your needs and specifications.

Facts about Serval cats
1. Servals have long, powerful legs that are important for jumping. They have been known to jump as high as 3.6 m (12 ft) to catch birds in mid air.
2. The spotted coat is important in breaking up the pattern on their body. This is essential for stalking prey. It is a protective camouflage against larger carnivores that will kill and eat the small cats.
3. Servals' large ears act as radar dishes to locate food. These cats listen for the movement of animals in the grass before they pounce. It is believed that they use their ears as much as their eyes.
4. Servals, unlike other small cats, are much more diurnal, or crepuscular, meaning they are active in early mornings and late evenings.
5. Servals, like most cats, live a solitary existence. The only associations formed are during mating and between a mother and her kittens. Gestation lasts up to 75 days, after which females find quiet, solitary places to give birth. The average litter is two or three kittens, which are born with their eyes closed, totally dependent on mom, who raises them alone.
4. Servals are wild animals, and should not be kept as domesticated pets. Their appeal is understandable; they're gorgeous animals. But, while many people may equate them with a domestic housecat, servals are a very different animal, and wildlife sanctuaries around the world agree: servals don't belong at home.

A "big tusker" is an elephant with exceptionally large tusks, typically weighing over 100 pounds each. Most of Kenya's big tuskers reside in the Amboseli and Tsavo ecosystems. Due to poaching pressure, the number of big tuskers is dwindling rapidly, making them extremely rare. Organizations like the Tsavo Trust are actively monitoring and protecting these elephants through aerial surveillance and ground patrols.
The presence of these majestic animals brings huge numbers of tourists to the Parks every year and that income is vital to further conservation efforts and supporting local communities.

Victoria Falls is a waterfall on the Zambezi River, located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It is one of the world's largest waterfalls. It is part of the mighty Zambezi River, which forms the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. The waterfall straddles Zimbabwe to the west and Zambia to the east, and is easily accessed from either country via Victoria Falls Town in Zimbabwe or Livingstone in Zambia.
The Zimbabwean side of Victoria Falls has 75% more viewing points, and gives an overall better perspective of the falls. In all seasons it is a great view, but if you are travelling at the end of Dry season then the Zimbabwean side is the side to pick since Zambia's views are particularly minimal.
It is twice the height of North America's Niagara Falls, and is only rivalled by Iguazu Falls in South America.

Zebras inhabit eastern and southern Africa and can be found in a variety of habitats such as savannahs, grasslands, woodlands, shrublands, and mountainous areas. Zebras are primarily grazers and can subsist on lower-quality vegetation.

Kenya is home to two species of zebra: the plains zebra and the Grévy's zebra. The plains zebra is more common, while the Grévy's zebra is rarer and endangered.

Plains zebra
The most common zebra in Kenya and Tanzania
Has broad stripes that wrap around the belly
Highly social, with dominant stallions leading harems of females and young
Often associate with wildebeest and other grazers

Grévy's zebra
The largest zebra species
Only found in northern Kenya
Has thinner, more densely concentrated stripes and a white belly
Has rounded ears and a taller shoulder height than the plains zebra
Endangered, with a population decline of 75% since the 1970s
Threats to zebras
Hunting: Zebras are hunted for their meat and distinctive skins
Habitat loss: Human encroachment, agricultural practices, and livestock grazing threaten zebra habitats
Competition with livestock: Cattle gather around watering holes, fencing zebras from those areas

Lake Turkana lies in the Eastern Rift Valley in northern Kenya with its far northern end extending to Ethiopia. The lake extends for 290 km in a north-south direction and has an average width of 32 km. Unlike other rift valley AGLs, such as Malawi, Tanganyika, and Kivu, Lake Turkana is shallow, with a mean depth of 30 m and a maximum depth of 109 m.
This is the biggest permanent desert lake in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also known as the Jade Sea and is famous for its greenish-blue colours.
The lake’s water comes from river inflows, and there is no river outflow, so lake water is lost only through evaporation.

Central Island, also known as Crocodile Island, is a volcanic island located in the middle of Lake Turkana. The island has three crater lakes. One is home to tilapia fish, the other contains thousands of flamingos and the third lake has an abundance of crocodiles. Central Island is an important breeding place for crocodiles and has a diverse fauna, it be can explored on foot.
The Lake Turkana fishery is comprised of the Nile perch, Nile tilapia, and Labeo horie. The fishery directly employs about 3000 fishers and yields about 4000 tons of fish per year, providing high quality animal protein to the population around the lake.
