Nothing like a mother's love πŸ’–

1. The African elephant is not just the largest living land animal but it has an enormous brain size to match. Their brains can weigh up to a whopping 5.4kg and are, without doubt, the largest brain of all animals living on land.

2. Have you ever seen an elephant swim? It’s pretty special! But not only can they swim, did you know they’ve also been spotted using their trunks as a snorkel when crossing rivers?! Now that’s handy…

3. Elephant family groups are very close. While they can’t exactly hug each other, elephants do wrap their trunks around younger relatives to reassure them and to greet each other they twine their trunks together.

4. Elephants are super smart! They can both learn and feel emotions. If a member of their family group is injured, the rest of the group may come and help it. They also know when a family member is no longer in the herd and it’s a truly heart-breaking sight to see an elephant grieve over the bones of lost family and friends.

5. Elephants are the largest land mammal on earth. African Elephants Can Live to 70, There Are Only 400,000 Left, Their Ears Can Reach 5 Ft.

Around 15 million years ago, the ancestors of giraffes were smaller creatures that roamed the forests of Africa. These early ancestors shared similarities with modern deer and had relatively short necks. Over time, environmental changes and evolutionary pressures led to the elongation of their legs and necks. As grasslands became more dominant in their habitats, these early giraffe ancestors adapted to browse leaves from taller trees.

Around 8 to 10 million years ago, one of the most significant developments in giraffe evolution occurred: the emergence of longer necks. It's believed that competition for food in the savannah environment drove giraffes to evolve longer necks, allowing them to access leaves on tall trees that were inaccessible to other herbivores. This adaptation likely provided an evolutionary advantage in terms of accessing food and avoiding competition.

The evolutionary process that led to the modern giraffe involved changes in other anatomical features as well, such as changes in the cardiovascular system to accommodate the increased height and pressure associated with the long neck.

As different populations of giraffes evolved in various regions of Africa, they developed distinct coat patterns and slight variations in size and behavior. Today, there are multiple subspecies of giraffes, each with its own unique characteristics and adaptations.

Do you know that sea creatures are the most fascinating?

Today on our episode of unfold the unknown,we get to delve deep into one of the most eccentric yet irrefutably rare creatures.

The beluga whale.

Belugas are also called white whales, and their unusual color makes them one of the most familiar and easily distinguishable of all the whales. Calves are born gray or even brown and only fade to white as they become sexually mature around five years of age.White whales are smallish, ranging from 13 to 20 feet in length. They have rounded foreheads and no dorsal fin.

Belugas generally live together in small groups known as pods. They are social animals and very vocal communicators that employ a diversified language of clicks, whistles, and clangs. Belugas can also mimic a variety of other sounds.

These whales are common in the Arctic Ocean's coastal waters, though they are found in subarctic waters as well. Arctic belugas migrate southward in large herds when the sea freezes over. Animals trapped by Arctic ice often die, and they are prey for polar bears, killer whales, and for Arctic people. They are hunted by indigenous people of the north, and by commercial fisheries that brought some populations, such as those in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, to near collapse.

Beluga feed on fish, crustaceans, and worms. The whale is related to the tusked β€œunicorn” whale known as the narwhal. The beluga is not related to the sturgeon of the same name, which has been heavily fished for its famous caviar.

We should strive to keep the environment sustainable to preserve such creatures with beauty for days.Beauty that cannot be contravened or denied and for that we say yes,to conservation, yes to sustainable tourism and yes to conservation.

The eccentric views from above become overly alluring if you just peer into the deep and become open minded enough to delve into the exhilarating nature.

Scenic flights are gifts to man kind as you are able to view the beauty of the world from above. Some sights that cannot be contravened.

Lake Magadi in southern Kenya and Lake Natron in northern Tanzania are both big salt lakes, which means that rain water does not flow out and can only escape by evaporation. The left over high concentration of salt and other minerals gives the lakes a very saturated red to almost black color.

Unlike other salt lakes Magadi and Natron has very high levels of alkaline due to high amounts of natron. The alkalinity of the lakes can reach a pH of greater than 12. They are inhabited by over 2 million pink flamingos, who use the lakes for breeding and giving birth because the high salt level is the perfect protection against predators.

Both lakes are by far the most inhospitable and surreal areas I have ever seen from above.

The name Zanzibar refers to the archipelago of islands in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of mainland Tanzania, made up of Unguja, the largest island, commonly called Zanzibar, Pemba, Mafia and other smaller islands.

Compared to the mainland, Zanzibar often seems like be a different country and that’s largely because up until the unification in 1964, it was. The archipelago and its people have their own unique history and culture which is strongly influenced by the Portugese, Omani and English traders and invaders over the centuries.

Unlike mainland Tanzania, Zanzibar doesn’t have tribes. Instead local traditions are a fusion of different ethnic groups that settled on the islands, resulting in events like Pemba bull fights from the Portuguese and Mwaka Kogwa, the celebration of the Persian New Year.

In recent years, Zanzibar has gained international prominence as a cultural centre after hosting the Sauti za Busara music festival and the Zanzibar International Film Festival. This has shown how the islands have succeeded in celebrating their heritage while constantly moving towards the future.

Zanzibar exhumes opulence in it's accommodation facilities.Frim hotels like Zuri,Safira Blu,Gold Zanzibar and so many more hotels that have a lush feeling attached to them.

Tales have been told over the centuries in regards to the Masai Mara and it's attractions.Profound beauty indeed! But have you ever given a thought to how Mara came to be?How the home if the 7th wonder of the world came to?

The Masai Mara was named in honour of the Masai people, the ancestral inhabitants of the area. The word 'Mara' means 'spotted' in the Maasai (Maa) language. Upon visiting the Masai Mara, it won’t be hard to understand how this area got its name. The short bushy trees that dot the landscape do give it a kind of 'spotted' look. The Greater Masai Mara ecosystem is massive. The area is bordered by the Serengeti in the south and to the north, east and west lie Maasai ranches. Although the riverbanks of the area’s three rivers (The Sand, Talek River and Mara River) are lined with shrubs and trees, most of the reserve is made up of open grassland spotted by an occasional flat-topped acacia tree.

The Mara has been a wildlife sanctuary for approximately 50 years. It was originally established in 1961. Later the amount of land covered in the sanctuary expanded and in 1974, the area received National Reserve status. A portion of the land was returned to local communities and currently the Mara ecosystem consists of 1,510 square kilometers. The Maasai people have always relied on their land to feed their cattle and to provide their families. Thanks to the establishment of the reserve as a protected area for the conservation of wildlife and wilderness and the areas designated as conservancies, the Maasai are able to sustain their way of living and improve their quality of life.

The Mara as of now is enroute to inhabiting one of the most exceptional seasons, where almost every creature comes to life.Stay tuned for the annual Wildebeest migration.Book with us to curate your safaris, book your accommodation and even your balloon safaris.

The humpback whale migration marks one of the most magnificent attractions in the world.

Here re some motivations for whale migration :ffinding food, reproducing, adapting to environmental changes, and avoiding threats. These journeys can span thousands of kilometers and are essential for the survival and persistence of different whale species.

Some of the motivators apply to the wildebeest and their reasons for moving from place to place.A co-relation that has its roots deeper than what we can blatantly see in the lives of human beings..

Whale migration occurs in the following areas in Africa;Watamu in the coastal region of Kenya and Hermanus in South Africa.

If you pick Kenya, join it with an exhilarating experience at the Mara where you can watch the wildebeest migration and if you pick South Africa relish shark cage diving, the penguins at boulders beach and not forgetting swim with the seals at Kalk Bay

Cultural tourism entails more than just interacting with the local communities. It's the feeling and knowledge illicited when you get to know what their norms, traditions are. What their lives encompass and how they make a day to day living.

Relishing their culture while singing and dancing to these African songs is just the icing to the cake. You are in for more, if you take a little bit of your time to get acquainted to their culture.

The language and style is outrightly yet exceptionally impeccable, their dressings quite eccentric and not forgetting their interaction with one another with a sole theme of family/togetherness.

You'll get to see that they aren't so different from other people.Their way of life is curated in a manner that is authentic and over the years this has been their trend.
