While our global reach has grown to service safari lovers from around the planet, we’ve remained true to our humble African roots: we’re still a family-owned and run business, and

Similarly, we value our independence as an autonomous safari operator, and we ensure that we’re as up-to-date as we are objective by regularly visiting all the destinations we recommend. Despite our many years in the business, we’ve stayed curious about every aspect of safari, and we’re always seeking new experiences for our guests. Wildlife Safari is now managed by Trevor Fernandes who continues the legacy his father created. Trevor also owns and operates Wildlife Safari Australia, a boutique safari wholesaler located in Perth; is a partner in Southern World, a provider of wide-ranging inbound services across the three major South Pacific destinations, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji; and is an investor in a number of African safari specialist businesses.

During my recent visit to the Serengeti last week, I had the privilege of seeing the pride once led by the legendary Bob Junior, also known as Snyggve. Standing in the heart of his former territory, I felt the weight of his legacy—a story of power, grace, and the unyielding cycle of nature.

Bob Junior was no ordinary lion. Born to the great Bob Marley, he carried forward his father’s legacy, ruling the plains with unmatched dignity and a calm strength that captivated everyone who saw him. His striking black mane and commanding presence earned him the title of 'The King of the Serengeti.'

In March 2023, his reign came to an end in a dramatic yet natural event. Overthrown by a coalition of rival males, including those he once trusted as allies, Bob Junior’s fall was a reminder of the harsh realities of life in the wild. Yet, even in his absence, his spirit lives on in his pride and in the hearts of those who admired him.

Seeing his pride reminded me of the Serengeti’s raw beauty and the profound stories it holds.

Rest in power, King Bob Junior. Your memory reigns eternal. 🦁👑

Today marks a significant milestone for Tom Fernandes.

A pioneer of luxury safaris in East Africa, Tom celebrates his 90th birthday today.
Tom founded Wildlife Safari Kenya fifty years ago and over his decades in the tourism industry has also devoted much time and effort to the East African Wildlife Society (EAWS) and Kenya Association of Tour Operators (KATO) including terms as vice chairman and chairman, of each organisation.

Wildlife Safari remains totally family owned and is now managed by Trevor Fernandes who oversees the business in Kenya & Australia.

On behalf of the entire Wildlife Safari team, past and present, we wish Tom a very happy birthday and thank him for his dedication and commitment to tourism and acknowledged by many as an icon of the industry.

SIX DAYS NGORONGORO / SERENGETI LUXURY SAFARI

DAY 1:Arrival at JRO transfer Ngorongoro
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Meet and greet by our representative and transfer to Arusha for a brief stop.
Board a small aircraft for a scenic flight to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Land at the airstrip near Ngorongoro and transfer to your lodge/camp.
Lunch at the lodge/camp overlooking the crater.
Afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the stunning views.
Dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Exploration
Early morning breakfast at the lodge/camp.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive.
Explore the crater's diverse ecosystems and spot the Big Five and other wildlife
Picnic lunch in the crater with breathtaking views
Afternoon game drive until sunset.
Return to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Ngorongoro to Serengeti
Breakfast at Ngorongoro and check-out.
Transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Serengeti National Park.
Arrival in Serengeti and transfer to your chosen lodge/camp.
Lunch at the lodge/camp followed by an afternoon siesta or game drive.
Evening game drive in Serengeti to witness the wildlife in their natural habitat.
Dinner and overnight stay in Serengeti.

Day 4-5: Full Days in Serengeti
Early morning wake-up call for sunrise game drives.
Breakfast at the lodge/camp and full-day game drives in Serengeti.
Explore different areas of the park, following the Great Migration if in season.
Picnic lunches in the wilderness or return to the lodge/camp for meals.
Optional hot air balloon safari (extra cost, must be booked in advance).
Evening game drives or sundowner experiences.

Day 6: Departure from Serengeti
Breakfast at the lodge/camp in Serengeti.
