Adventure Alternative is honored to be part of a transformative journey for the children in Embu, supported by Moving Mountains Trust. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Harton Academy and Sunderland Football Club for their generous donation of football kits, which are making a significant impact on the lives of these young individuals.

At Adventure Alternative Kenya, we believe in responsible tourism and community support. Our recent experiences with the children, including climbing Mount Kenya and exploring Kenya, have been truly inspiring. These adventures not only provide educational opportunities but also contribute to the well-being and development of the children we care deeply about.

Moving Mountains Trust's sports program in Embu plays a crucial role in empowering children from disadvantaged backgrounds and street families. Through sports, guidance, counseling, and life skills education, we aim to nurture their talents and provide them with a brighter future.

We are committed to supporting Moving Mountains Trust in their mission to empower young lives through education and growth opportunities. Together with partners like Harton Academy, Sunderland Football Club, Walton College, and Moving Mountains Trust, we can continue making a lasting difference.

Special thanks also to George Watson's College, who camped with 25 Kenyan kids from the Under 15 BLACK CATS Football Club and engaged in community work, renovating Gatwe Primary School and St. Monica Special School over 10 days filled with enriching experiences, home visits, and cultural activities.

For two incredible weeks, our students are diving into a life-changing experience filled with:

🏕️ Camping for 10 days with the amazing kids supported by Moving Mountains Kenya and Black Cats Football Academy.
📚 Learning from the children and gaining valuable teaching experience.
🛠️ Participating in renovation projects at St. Monica Special School and Gatwe Primary School.
🤝 Volunteering and assisting at a Rescue Centre for street children.

We've been so busy this summer! School groups, safaris, mountain climbs and holidays to beautiful Kenya! With new vehicles and a ton of new equipment it's very exciting to work such a great team of staff. And our trips benefit Moving Mountains Kenya which supports so many people now. Wild camping...

Have you heard of bio luminescence? This is the emission of light by a living organism. It occurs widely in marine vertebrates and invertebrates, as well as in fungi and some terrestrial invertebrates such as fireflies.

Our journey to watch the magical bioluminescent planktons glowing up the ocean at night at Kilifi Creek will start on Thursday night, 3rd March 2022.
On Friday morning we'll set up camp and visit Marafa Hell's kitchen in Malindi, Mambrui Sand dunes, Vasco da gama pillar, Gede Ruins in Watamu and head back to Kilifi Creek at the beach front.

The ocean lits up

At night, we will go down to the ocean to experience the magical moment.
Our guide, David will tell us to remove our shoes before stepping into the ocean.
“When you get in, splash the water using your legs,” he will say.

Then you splash the water with your feet, the ocean will light up, and as the planktons race, they emitt blue lights. Then you can keep wading through the water and enjoying the bioluminescence.
On Saturday we will take a boat ride, visit the Kilifi small hell's kitchen and swim at Bofa Beach. In the evening we enjoy night life at neighbouring Distant Relatives back packers and also another round of the Bioluminescent magic.
On Sunday morning we drive to Mombasa for a short city tour before we head back to Nairobi.

Typical itinerary:

DAY 1
Nairobi/Masai mara
Assembly point at KENCOM at least by 7:30am ready for official departure around 8:30am.
Drive to masai mara arriving in time for lunch.Later proceed for evening game drive inside the Mara Reserve well known for its tree studded grassland and rolling hills.The famous mara is also renowned for its great herds of
plain game,black-maned lions,leopard and cheetah but also contains numerous elephant and virtually every type of wildlife to be found in Kenya.

Dinner and overnight at Mara Enchoro camp or similar with facilities of hot shower and toilet inside the tent.

DAY 2
Masai mara full day

After early breakfast at 6am start at 6.30am with picnic lunch you spent full day exploring this unique park which really forms the northern part of the famous Serengeti National Park.
You have the chance to visit Mara river the boarder of Masai mara and the famouse Serengeti park where there is concentration of large herd of animals.
All meals and overnight at the camp.

Day 3
Masai mara/Nairobi
Pre-morning game drive at 6.30am and after late breakfast depart masai mara with picnic lunch on the way arriving Nairobi at around 4pm drop off at the pick up point.
