This time last year, we set off on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Cape Town for our honeymoon, exploring the breathtaking Garden Route. This region is brimming with bucket-list-worthy things to see and do, from its jaw-dropping nature to its incredible restaurants and award-winning wine scene. We could’ve spent a year exploring it all!

Never seen this before. Witnessed a Lilac-breasted Roller catching and attempting to eat a mouse. After about half an hour, with no success, he flew off with the mouse in his beak and disappeared.

Getting up close and personal with the meerkats of the Makgadikgadi salt pans in Botswana! These creatures have been habituated by scientists, and although you can't touch them, they can interact with you freely, often using you as a lookout post for predators!

On our last safari in the Serengeti, we found a Caracal, which I haven’t managed to capture a photo of in years. Luckily this guy hung out around camp and so was very relaxed around our car and allowed us to capture some great shots.

Millions of wildbeests on the short grass plains of Southern Serengeti. I can't wait to get back there in a couple of weeks.

Lions truly have incredible adaptations for survival! This lion’s tongue, rough as sandpaper and armed with tiny backward-facing spines, has the unique ability to efficiently strip meat from the bones of their prey.

These spines, called papillae, make the tongue so rough that if a lion licked the back of your hand only a few times, you would be left without any skin!
