Giraffes, the gardeners of the Savannah, play a crucial role in maintaining the delicate balance of their ecosystem. By grazing on the tops and bottoms of trees, they help shape the landscape, encouraging new growth and providing a habitat for countless other species.

Getting up close and personal with the meerkats of the Makgadikgadi salt pans in Botswana! These creatures have been habituated by scientists, and although you can't touch them, they can interact with you freely, often using you as a lookout post for predators!

On our last safari in the Serengeti, we found a Caracal, which I haven’t managed to capture a photo of in years. Luckily this guy hung out around camp and so was very relaxed around our car and allowed us to capture some great shots.

World Wildlife Day! Today is a day to celebrate wild animals and plants. Every year, we recognize the unique roles and contributions of wildlife to people and the planet. The WWD2024 Theme is Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation. We're shining a spotlight on initiatives like and BioRescue Project who have succeeded in obtaining the world’s first pregnancy in a rhino after an embryo transfer. This milestone achievement offers hope for saving the critically endangered northern white rhinos from extinction.

Let us know how you celebrate wildlife!

Lions truly have incredible adaptations for survival! This lion’s tongue, rough as sandpaper and armed with tiny backward-facing spines, has the unique ability to efficiently strip meat from the bones of their prey.

These spines, called papillae, make the tongue so rough that if a lion licked the back of your hand only a few times, you would be left without any skin!

As the high season comes to a close, we wanted to highlight some of the best things we have experienced over the last few months. From Victoria Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world, to wild dog hunts and sleeping out under the stars on the Makgadikgadi Pans, the largest salt pans in the world. The season has been nothing short of epic.

One way to give yourself a pedicure!

On average, baboons and humans have a genetic similarity of 94%, and like many primates, baboons are highly social. Compared to many other monkeys, baboons are unusual in that, rather than living in trees, they spend most of their waking hours on the ground, ranging across African savannas.

Perhaps this is why this guy is giving himself a good foot massage.

HAPPY WORLD ELEPHANT DAY. 🐘♥️

Here I am on our last safari visiting the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Voi Reintegration Unit, where the orphaned elephants are gradually weaned and learn how to live as wild elephants.

On our arrival, the baby elephants sprinted down the hill to get their mid-morning milk and plunge into the mud bath. While they prefer the company of their Keeper for now, they will eventually reintegrate into these wild herds and stride the plains just as confidently as the wild herds they once revered.

Spent some quality time with the meerkats of the Makgadikgadi Pans. We walked with this habituated family as they searched for food and even used us as vantage points to look out for predators.

Only four days left until our safari to Southern Africa begins! We'll be embarking on an incredible safari, starting from Johannesburg and venturing to Victoria Falls, Linyanti, the Okavango Delta, Makgadikgadi Pans, and finally returning to Johannesburg for our flight back to Kenya.

During our last trip to the Okavango Delta, we captured this beautiful video, showcasing the delta's unique ecosystem. Often hailed as the "jewel of the Kalahari," it stands as the largest inland delta globally, formed by the yearly floodwaters from the Okavango River. This vibrant oasis is teaming with diverse wildlife and plant species.

"The sea is as near as we come to another world," once wrote English-American poet Anne Stevenson, and her words hold true for the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean.

To celebrate World Oceans Day, we have highlighted some of the most unspoiled coastlines, pristine islands, and natural wonders of the Indian Ocean, like Kiwayu, pictured in this video, one of our favourite islands in Kenya.

By reflecting on this day, we hope it sheds light on the wonder of what the Indian Ocean has to offer and inspires you for your next beach holiday!

You’re probably wondering what kind of cuisine you’ll enjoy on your trip to Africa.

The cuisine on a once-in-a-lifetime safari in Africa is as rich in variety as the diverse landscapes on this vast continent. Fresh quality ingredients are at the heart of a safari food experience and many lodges put sustainable practices at the core of their menus. Of course, the setting in which you eat is almost as important as the flavour!

We’ve been reflecting on Earth Day and the huge challenge we have ahead to help conserve the planet's biodiversity.

These images highlight some of the world's most endangered species. One of them is the mountain gorilla. There are only 1000 left in the world. Together with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, we are working on our transformative experiences where you can join a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness endangered mountain gorillas and engage with the critical work going into their conservation across Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
