This holiday season, Mount Elgon Foundation is hosting a centerpiece fundraiser of the Chemukung Raffle, featuring a stunning bronze sculpture by renowned Nairobi artist Denis Mathews of Matbronze. This unique piece celebrates the remarkable story of Chemukung, a Mount Elgon elephant rescued from a life-threatening snare in 2020 by a collaborative effort of East Africa Wild Life / Mount Elgon Elephant Project (EAWLS/MEEP)., Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and Kenya Forest Service (KFS). After her dramatic rescue, Chemukung went on to have two calves—symbols of hope for Mount Elgon’s elephants.

Your contribution also helps us complete a satellite tracking ops room for the Kenya Wildlife Service to monitor elephant movements following a successful collaring of three females, an operation spearheaded by Mara Elephant Project (MEP), KWS and beautifully filmed by G***t Van Maldern.

RAGATI 🎣

Next up this ‘giving’ season and close to our hearts here at Bush & Beyond is

Unique in Kenya, the Ragati Conservancy lies on the Southern slopes of Mt. Kenya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and consists entirely of afro-montane forest and afro-alpine heath.

Its ecosystem includes the Ragati river and its tributaries, and is home to an abundance of wildlife; elephant, buffalo, leopard as well as the rare mountain bongo, crowned eagle and African clawless otter. Home also to some amazing birdlife.

The river is an ideal habitat for rainbow trout, providing a fantastic opportunity to fish in crystal clear mountain tributaries running through pristine forest. So come and enjoy one of the best fishing and walking experiences that Kenya, and indeed East Africa, has to offer.

This year we also supported the and the incredible work they do in protecting the Tsavo conservation area. Without them the Tsavo ecosystem would look very different. Next up this ‘GIVING’ week is our friends at and the incredible work they do to protect our local oceans.

Local Ocean Conservation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to protecting Kenya’s marine environment, specifically within Watamu Marine National park.

At the heart of our mission is the sea turtle, our flagship species. Through our Bycatch & Release Programme, we work closely with local fishermen to rescue turtles that have been accidentally caught in nets. Our Turtle Rehabilitation Centre nurses injured turtles back to health until they can be released back into the ocean.

Your support directly funds our core initiatives, including: turtle rescues, rehabilitation, nest monitoring, anti-poaching patrols, mangrove restoration, and community engagement.

Join us in protecting sea turtles and the vibrant ecosystems they call home. Support our mission through monetary or material donations - or by adopting a turtle or nest this Christmas!🐢✨❤️

One of the most beautiful things we can do through tourism is give back to the hero’s of our conservation community.

From the Kenyan savanna’s to our amazing coastline we are so lucky to have people and organisations dedicated to protecting the places that we send our fortunate clients.

Each year Bush & Beyond gives a percentage of its safaris back to these organisations. However together and today we can do so much more.
