The park is a two-day travel by road from Nairobi to Kalokol on the lake’s western shores, via Kitale and Lodwar. From Kalokol, access to the park is by boat.

The Rise and Fall of the Marsh Pride, BBC/PBS, 90 minute Documentary launches in the UK tonight. The Marsh Pride are known to millions of people around the world as stars of the landmark BBC/Animal Planet series Big Cat Diary (1996-2008) and more recently on Animal Planet’s Big Cat Tales, Season 1 and 2 (2017-2019).

Now is your chance to catch up with their epic story tonight at 21:00 on BBC2 (or on iPlayer) in the UK and again on Friday 26 August at the same time. For viewers in the USA you can find Lion: The Rise and Fall of the Marsh Pride on PBS on 14th September. Streaming link in bio.

The pride lives on the northeastern boundary of the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya and at times comes into conflict with pastoralists and their livestock. As a result all 4 of these lionesses were speared (Lispy in 2011 and White-Eye in 2012) - or poisoned (Red + her 3 cubs in 2009, Bibi in 2015).
