"I was extremely lucky to document a rhino ear notching operation at in collaboration with and the where 31 black and white rhinos underwent the process.
According to Kenya’s National Rhino Action plans, it is a requirement that at least 60% of all rhino populations are uniquely identifiable.
In Kenya the KWS uses ear-notches that correspond to a numbering code to achieve this objective.
They also used the opportunity to incorporate state of the art tracking devices to amplify their monitoring and security of the animals. The exercise was also used to collect pertinent data for research."
