JACKSON KOSHAL: GUIDE AND NATURALIST

I met Jack early 2017 in Talek, we were all seated in one table having Tea and sharing traditional stories touching mostly on wildlife, he was so excited about becoming a guide especially working for the Wild Source, during our conversation he asked me whether he can work with us as a waiter in the camp that we were starting up, I told him of course yes. I drove with him to our site and we started making the foundation for the camp and later he worked with Brian Ayekha as our first waiters, he was hardworking ,outgoing and interacted so well with guests, after a few weeks I picked him as my tracker for almost a year which I saw his knowledge of wildlife have greatly improved and love for wildlife deepened.am proud that the Wild Source gave me all the freedom to train him and I wish to say that Jack was among the best guides in the Mara, I had a chance to meet him recently on my bush school ventures and he narrated his story. Today the Bush school congratulates Jack.

Here is a manuscript from Jackson koshal:

“My name is Jackson lekai Koshal. I'm proud to be a professional safari guide. My path to this position has been filled with challenges and learning experiences. I've worked in various departments within the hospitality industry, including housekeeping, wait staff, and restaurants across different camps and lodges. In 2017, I was fortunate to join Enaidura Camp as a waiter. It was there that I was inspired by a dedicated team of The Wild Source led by Bill, Molly and PING, who instilled in me the importance of teamwork. It was during my time at Enaidura that Pingua Nkukuu (PING’) introduced me to the world of safari guiding and provided invaluable lessons. I am deeply grateful to the Enaidura family for nurturing and shaping me into a professional that I am today. Their support has been an instrumental in my journey. Now, I am proud to work as a safari guide, showcasing the beauty of Kenya to visitors from around the world. Thank you Enaidura family for everything. Thumbs up! A blessed team ”

THE MAASAI AND DOROBO.
Long ago they lived two Morans. One from Dorobo (Ogiek) community and the other from Maasai community. One day they went to Oloibon to ask for cattle, then the Oloibon told them to go and not to touch anything on their way to where the Oloibon directed them to go and ask God to give them cattle’s.
On their way as they started their journey they found the first thing which was two swords fighting on their own and the swords asked them please separate us and take one of them, then the Maasai Moran refused and the Dorobo(Ogiek) one separated them and took one. The second thing they met on their way was boiling soup and the Maasai Moran refused to take even though he were hungry but the Dorobo drunk it. As they were continuing with the journey the third thing they met was fried meat and the meat asked the Morans please eat us but the Maasai Moran refused but the Dorobo ate the meat. After a long journey the Maasai Moran kept the Oloibon commandments till they reached where the Oloibon told them with the Dorobo.
After some few minutes they saw a big and very long rope on top dropping from the clouds which they believed it came from God then the rope dropped to the Maasai Moran and the sound came from above saying, touch that rope because the cows, sheep, goats, donkey, camels will come through the rope, then the Maasai Moran received all that came from the rope until he said it’s enough. When the Dorobo(Ogiek) Moran tried to hold the rope the wild animals started to drop from the rope, buffaloes, gazelles, warthogs, etc. and that’s how the Maasai got their cattle’s from.
