Hi Joseph Kodonyo. I'll probably need your help identifying the birds I've photographed on the tour from Victoria Falls to Cape Town. My fellow travelers have asked why I'm so interested in birds and I tell them it's all down to the wonderful guide I met in Kenya!
Lea Gilbert
A wonderful morning spent in the fascinating company of Joseph Ole Kodonyo exploring the rich bird life of Lake Elementaita. Together with Joseph's help we identified - by sight and/or sound - over 50 individual species in a morning's walk around the shore. Apparently, the lake has over 400, so we have made a respectable start to our birding career! π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦
We even saw a mighty Acacia tree crash to the ground not far away from us - thankfully of old age and natural causes - which was an amazing experience. We learned about a number of indigenous plants around the lake and on our own plot. We also got to see the beautiful lake from the Soysambu Conservancy side, which has certainly whetted our appetite to explore further.
Thank you so much, Joseph, for sharing your boundless enthusiasm and extensive knowledge with us π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π
PS no photos, as amazingly we had no camera on this occasion, so a copy of Birds of Kenya will have to suffice!
