IK DODI PROGRAMME IN SIAYA COUNTY

Siaya County officially forms part of the other 12 Counties in Phase 1 rollout exercise of IK- DODI programme by the NMK.

Indigenous knowledge Documentation and Digitisation Exercise rollout.
The department of Tourism Culture Sports and Arts in Collaboration with NMK have launched the IK DODI programme with a 5 day capacity building for Young Champions , community members and the Luo Council of Elders - Siaya chapter drawn from the 6 sub counties.

The trained young champions will in the course of the month embark on countywide documentation of our cultural assets for safe keeping in the county and national digital repository.

The objectives of the project include harnessing IK for social economic development, valorizing the IK and protection of the IK.

The County Government of Siaya, through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Sports and Arts in collaboration with the Executive Office of the Governor, will roll out The Nyalore Governors Cup for football men. This will be a Countywide tournament for talents identification, talent exposure and creation of temporary job opportunities for the Youth - "Kandanda Mashinani, Pesa kwa Vijana!".
The tournament shall be played on weekdays for one month, the whole of December 2023. The one month long tournament will be launched by the Governor Siaya, James Orengo on 1st December 2023 at Sega Township Primary School starting at 9.00am. The final match will be played on 1st January, 2024, at the Migwena Sports Group.
