Today a group of young people who are championing social justice have met at the Kenya red Cross boardroom to put heads together for a social course.The team was brought together by organization that is based in mombasa county.

The youths agreed to do follow up on stalled projects by the county government that were highlighted.

ITHEMBA

Ithemba is an Agikuyu cultural celebration marking the homecoming of young men from their initiation. The group of boys who go through the initiation together is known as a riika. They separate from their families for this journey into manhood, where they also explore their histories, support each other through the process, and build strong bonds. The bond of a riika lasts a lifetime.

Upon the return home there is a celebration to welcome them back and recognise their growth from boys to men. This event has evolved over time to capture faith-based learning, as well as enabling people from all communities to participate. This particular program is run by Dhahabu Themanini.

The ceremony is highly symbolic. Mothers pray blessings upon their sons and hand them physically to the custody of their fathers - marking the end of childhood and start of manhood. The role of fathers, uncles and mentors is crucial as a key source of support and guidance for the young men.

Interesting fact: Gūthembera means to gift - traditionally at the celebration, the young men are given gifts to help them start to build their herd.

UPDATE: Utilizing cutting-edge technologies, experts are diligently working to ensure that Kelvin Kiptum's father's three-bedroom house is completed by Thursday.

The family of the esteemed late world record holder has chosen to settle on the four-acre farm he purchased in Naiberi, Uasin Gishu County. This location holds special significance as it was where he intended to construct his home, serving as his final resting place.

Significant progress has been made, with the foundation decked using Rectangular Hollow Section (RHS) and concrete poured onto the suspended slab. The next phase will involve precast walling to further advance the construction process.

It's important to note that mzee Samson Cheruiyot, the father of the late Kelvin Kiptum, expressed his heartfelt wish to reside beside the grave of his beloved and only child. This sentiment underscores the deep emotional significance of the project.
