Happy World Rhino Day! We have been blessed to have had some incredible close encounters with Rhino, from bottle feeding little Ringo, to encouraging Sudan and Nanji using our bumper as a scratching pole! Never take anything for granted. Rhinos are critically endangered, and it is up to us to secure their future in this crazy harsh world!

So that is where they are!!!! Our landies taking a well-deserved rest at Croc Valley Camp next to South Luangwa NP in Zambia. This is one of our favorite places on our Dr Livingstone guided self drives from Kenya to Zambia via Tanzania and Malawi.

A rare sighting -- a large herd of Land Rovers spotted at Croc Valley Camp! 🚙🚙🚙

And that is a wrap! Our first guided self drive expedition since Covid done and dusted. Finished with the Victoria Falls, watched the Aussies beat France in the Women's World Cup and enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Royal Livingstone. Tonight is a sunset cruise on the Zambezi.

Tanzania is one country that takes the welfare of their wildlife seriously, from dishing out life prison sentences to poachers to hefty fines for roadkill. This is no joke. You hit an Ellie, not only is your car totalled but your bank balance will be USD$15,000 lighter!

Two amazing teams! Ol Pejeta and Sheldricks. What these projects achieve is outstanding, truly standing by and protecting Kenya's wildlife and often against the odds. Kudos.

Some fantastic news from Sheldrick Trust's Nairobi Nursery as orphaned black rhino Raha is now eating solids and is starting to put on weight!

Almost a year on since the Ol Pejeta team found her abandoned and severely injured, this little miracle rhino continues to bravely battle through everything and has made a big step in her recovery.

A big thank you to Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for doing such an amazing job of looking after her!

We have had some friends ask how they can help "our" zebra survive the drought. So T and I have set up a gofundme for anyone who would like to contribute to food and water. As there is no sign of this drought ending anytime soon we are trying to help as many animals and people as possible. We know times are tough for everyone. So even if you can't donate, please share far and wide!

Hi, my name is Debs, I am an Aussie who lives in rural Kenya with my hubby, 5 rescue German Shephe… Deborah Thiele needs your support for Help Save Our Zebra

Today is World Zebra Day (31 January)!!! Some of you may be wondering why email responses may be taking a little longer than usual. It's because we are caring for 12 adults and 2 new borns taking refuge on our property just south of Nairobi, Kenya. As the worst drought in over 40 years continues we are busy carting hay, filling water drums, 40km round trips to buy the best hay in Kiserian and shovelling poo off our patio!

If you can't go on safari, bring the safari to you!

Our Story

It all started in 2006 when we, Tim and Debs, decided to branch out on our own and start Africa Expedition Support. This came about after too many years as professional overlanders working for other people in Africa, Middle East and South America.

Africa is where our hearts are. No continent can enchant, surprise, make you laugh and cry all in the same hour!

We decided to specialise in areas that the large travel operators simply don’t have the time or expertise for. Guided self drive safaris and expeditions are for those who want to experience Africa from behind the driving wheel rather than taking a back seat; and our bespoke group student journeys opens the eyes of the next generation in a way no classroom can. Together, we develop family trips that are right on budget and meet your expectations rather than selling you a generic holiday.

While we may not run hundreds of trips a year, those we do run we know are of the highest quality, with the most meticulous planning and a very personal touch.
