A single carry on bag can pack enough supplies to last you three weeks. You always want to travel as light as possible to avoid extra luggage booking fees as well as the hassle that comes with misplacing items or invasive security checks at the terminals.

Sometimes you actually have to run to catch your next flight, bus or ferry and having a light bag is always going to work in your favour. This coupled with smart packing means that items that you need to easily access on demand are close and at hand.

The over-head compartment is your friend, use it! Make sure you have a carry on bag that will be sure to fit in there. As long as you stick to your packing list and avoid packing items 'just in case' then your bag will be within the required weight.

One good tip is to carry items that you can mix and match. Moreover, you might find it benefitial to wear the heavier items and leave room in the bag for other garments. This might work in your favour especially if you have a window seat as those tend to be a little colder than the middle/ aisle seats.

Another thing, try to pack items inside smaller units. This means packing your shoes, toiletries, gadgets, documents in seperate cubes/bags that fit inside the carry on bag. This makes it easier to easily fish out items as well as making packing and unpacking easier.

One last crucial tip is to try and book accomodation with access to washing machines so you can do your laundry as you go in stead of carrying more clothes or packing dirty clothes in your suitcase.

Packing smart is the only way to go and you will find that with enough consultation, you will learn to appreciate the art of travelling light.
